Amit Goyal Accepts Swiss Finance Institute Senior Chair Position

Zurich, Switzerland, 05/20/2008 - Amit Goyal has been awarded a Senior Chair at the Swiss Finance Institute. An accomplished researcher with 10 years experience at top US research schools, Professor Goyal will pursue research in applied asset pricing and portfolio optimization.
Amit Goyal has been awarded a Swiss Finance Institute Senior Chair position at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. An accomplished researcher with 10 years experience at top US research schools, Professor Goyal will pursue research in applied asset pricing and portfolio optimization.
Professor Goyal will take up the new position in August this year. Previously working in the US, he completed doctoral work at the Anderson School of Business, University of California, before continuing empirical research on the financial management of pension funds at Emory University.
Invited to the Swiss Finance Institute in 2007 as a Visiting Professor at the University of Lausanne, Goyal has already participated fully in Swiss academic life. "The Institute provides a dynamic research environment and I am impressed by the theoretical prowess of the finance students I encountered," he explained.
Complementarity
Goyal is keen to continue his research in the economically important domain of pension fund investment strategies, and also hopes to train the next generation of empirically-minded finance graduates in Switzerland. "Amit's extraodinary publication record and facility with empirical methods will be an enormous asset to our faculty," explained Swiss Finance Institute Managing Director Professor Jean-Pierre Danthine.
