For the second year in a row, Scotsman Guide, the leading resource for mortgage originators, has taken home a Western Publications Association (WPA) Maggie Award. The national mortgage magazine has announced that it won a first-place Maggie Award for Best Color Editorial Layout/Trade.
The winning layout appeared in the magazine’s March 2007 commercial edition for an article titled, “Doing Business in the Information Age.” Scotsman Guide senior designer Deborah Richardson designed the spread, which included an illustration by contributing illustrator Keith Negley. Dennis Wunsch, Scotsman Guide’s art director, oversaw the design of the feature.
Scotsman Guide accepted the award at the 2008 WPA Publishing Conference on May 2 in Los Angeles.
In all Scotsman Guide was a six-time finalist, placing two additional entries in the layout category. Scotsman Guide’s commercial and residential editions were finalists in the “Best Single Editorial Illustration/Trade” category for two articles. The magazine’s inaugural e-newsletter also was a finalist in the “Best Web E-Newsletter/Trade and Consumer” category.
Last year, Scotsman Guide was honored with a Maggie Award for “Best Single Editorial Illustration/Trade” and was a finalist in two other categories, “Best Regularly Featured Department, Section or Column/Trade” for its Spotlight feature and “Best Tabloid/Trade.”
