From 24 to 30 April, the international packaging industry is meeting at the Interpack 2008 Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, to display packaging machines and materials. The manufacturer Bizerba from Balingen will present, among other products, an integrated solution for packaging. (Hall 14, Stand C14).
Most companies are familiar with the problem: a restricted workforce leads to bottlenecks in production. Here the use of robots offers decisive advantages. From the cost benefits of round-the-clock production to faultless tracking with minimal effort, fully automated systems allow increased production and make process controls more transparent.
At Interpack 2008, Bizerba, in cooperation with the Finnish firm Kine Robot Solutions, is showcasing the advantages of automated packaging systems. At the beginning, a GLM-I-series price-labeller labels packages, which are passed to the robot-cell packing unit via a conveyor belt. A robot arm picks up the packages with a suction unit and places them in boxes. The system can accommodate different size trays and containers and can therefore be rapidly adjusted to production requirements. The boxes are sent via conveyor belt to the palleting robot, which stacks them on pallets. This system can also accommodate different box and pallet sizes. The pallet rests on a balance, so the GLM-P labeller can ticket the pallet's weight.
This and other Bizerba and Kine automated systems can be variably configured to each client's requirements. Connection to a warehouse-management system is as simple as the direct connection to balances, labelers, and packing robots. Kine and Bizerba's proven technology offers a complete single-source automated packaging system, with minimal costs for project coordination, and minimal maintenance costs through tailored service concepts.
