Ok, so here’s what’s happened. As we where happily planning, designing and programming offline, we suddenly found ourselves in a dilemma because for what ever reasons some visitors just kept on coming on our utterly outdated and ugly old page. What should we do, and where the hell are those people coming from?
Well it turned out that they came from Google where we kind of forgot that we were ‘’donating’’ charity to support these poor fellas over there. (In December all our ad campaigns were supposedly ‘’inactive’’. Google advertisement systems were never the less so kind to still place our 20c ads, which quietly added up to 1000 dollars a month later.
Anyway, since we already have some visitors, we thought that we might as well upload the new ‘’unfinished’’- beta - version and accelerate our working paste.
So here’s what’s happened in January ‘06

Overview of Destinedia
In our quest to mirror the world in the net (piece of cake, eh?) we established a layout for our portal including four tools for personal, community, business and destination pages, a diverse forum, the browser system to easily get through all of that and a usable path for registered users to travel and manage the site.
Destinedia is designed as a platform for everyone. When you’re travelling, doing business, out of house or at home the key to the best experience and success is always valuable information which is our business. As most people know, most useful information is available in the internet; the problem is only to find it. To solve this problem completely you’d probably need an intelligent computer where you could just say what you need and leave the searching to the machine, what sadly isn’t an available piece of equipment today. So we came up with what we believe to be the best compromise to date. Not as simple as search engines, but just as easy to handle. In other words, we don’t want people to fill out forms and tell us what we should be searching for them nor a search engine or directory that bluffs you with thousands of mostly unusable results. Our solution is to break down these results once you have them. It’s actually very simple, let’s say you’re looking for a local travel agent to book your Thailand stay. A directory in this case would give you thousands of alphabetically ordered results whereas search engines only show you the few that pay best. Destinedia with its different approach takes all registered and travel related businesses as a start. You then break down this result to a useful size by setting filters and the browser to your interests. End results finally appear in order of best ratings and popularity.
Since usefulness is our highest aim, we decided to further divide the interest for information into the two segments of static-and dynamic information. Static information such as definitions can easily be found with our searching solution. Dynamic information as for example news or event announcements can be of long-term interest to the user and should therefore be more easily accessible to him the second time he searches for it. Our solution to that is a highly personalized user base where the user can elevate any source of interest available on the platform to the first page he enters.
Last but not least we think that a truly special network is home to an ever changing look and feel. For this, our layout for diverse forums, entertainment and meeting point places are designed to let our users participate in the future of destinedia and makes sure that there’s always something new to discover with us.
What’s the hook?
The problem with this system is that it doesn’t work to search the whole web. For our searches we need every page to choose a few among certain keywords that suit them. This means that people have to register first and also that we basically start with zero content. To overcome this problem we created our business supporting tools. These tools are designed to bring business to registered locations and in doing so create an interest for a group of people even at the starting point of our campaign. For example, now it is very interesting for travel agencies to register at Destinedia because they can take advantage of our inquiry tool. This tool is for our users to end inquiries to all businesses left over in a search and receive their offers in an orderly fashion.
Ideology (Open Content),
Destinedia is an open content platform. Why?
The definition of open content describes any kind of creative work including articles, pictures, audio, and video that is published in a format that explicitly allows the copying, modifying or distributing of the information.
We want users to be able to find reliable information from every corner of the world without hesitating to use this information or give it away to those who might need it.
We want users to share their rare knowledge, unique experiences and exclusive information with others who want to discover.
By having an open content platform combined with tools and systems we created, Destinedia is going to be a centralized community platform for any kind of users on the internet.
All in all we have a lot of exciting functions & opportunities and an even more exciting future with Destinedia. We are working long and hard to get this thing ready for you so come by sometimes to see what’s happening and we promise that there’s always something new to discover.
System Updates & Additions
The browser, which is the main tool for you to discover our content, used to be utterly outdated and pure php, MySQL and java scripts. By implementing the new AJAX technology into our browser we achieved a by far more flexible and fast browsing solution then we ever thought we could create.
So…, the easier and the faster you can explore the more results you will encounter.
The Directory (Addition)
The Directory is the main complementary tool to the browser and organizes its results by keeping related information together. While ordinary Directories lack the ability of displaying thousands of entries in usable fashion we created additional tools to harmonize our results. These tools, categories and various filters are able to adapt to your interests and create more significant results on the fly.
The Community Forum
This community is built for and by you. With it’s simplicity of design and user tools integrated it will provide you everything to mirror your life in the virtual reality. Future additions will provide you with travel blogs and personal galleries. That’s the perfect thing you will need to show off your self.
