While mobile coupon services are not new, there is a new player in the market offering solutions to the challenges faced by cell phone users who would like to use this feature without making major changes to their cell phone options. Recently launched, Ugotitfirst.com is the only service that currently enables advertisers to access potential customers in a matter of minutes from signing up for the service. The service also allows its members to make cash donations to their favorite charity as part of its unique offering.
The Ugotitfirst.com service uses text messages that make the coupons available to virtually every phone user, so there is no need to download applications and install them on the cell phone. That means that a member does not have to install and operate an application or navigate the mobile Web. Coupons are downloaded by members or sent automatically based on the member’s specifications for content and the member’s demographics. When a coupon is sent to a member’s phone, Ugotitfirst, via its unique profit sharing plan, deposits a nominal amount ($0.01 - $0.10) into the member’s virtual wallet. Members are then encouraged to donate the money accumulated in their wallets to a charity of their choice. However, members can opt to use the cash for shopping on the site store (a derivative of Amazon.com) or, when their balance hits $25, request a check to be sent to their home.
According to Noam Samson, CEO of Ugotitfirst, LLC, “The most significant aspect of Ugotitfirst is the ability of our members to assert complete control over their mobile phones. Our members can download messages at will or allow advertisers to send messages to their phones. However, members control the number of messages (e.g. coupons, alerts, event invites) they would like to receive daily and the time of day they would like to receive them. Members also determine the content of the messages they receive. For example, a member who indicated ‘Restaurants’ as a preference will not receive automotive service promotions. We also keep the member’s identity confidential. No names, mobile numbers or addresses are shared with any advertisers or third parties.”
Ugotitfirst.com offers coupons and discounts ranging from national brands to local shops. Members will only receive coupons from businesses in their geographic area. When members want to use a coupon, all they have to do is recall the text message of the coupon and show it to the cashier at the point of service. No Internet navigation or time-consuming operations are needed.
