The new core loss calculation method computes the hysteresis plus the anomalous and eddy current losses in the lamination and presents them to the user as two separate fields. In a simulation, the new core loss calculation method for eddy currents takes different harmonics into account and, for hysteresis loss, it takes into account the minor loops.
"This improvement will definitely be useful to any engineer looking to improve the energy efficiency of their device" said Behzad Forghani, Vice-President at Infolytica Corporation.

About Infolytica Corporation
Infolytica (infolytica.com) offers state-of-the-art CAE software for magnetic, electric, and thermal analyses. Engineers from a wide range of industries use Infolytica's software to design and analyze applications such as electromechanical devices, non-destructive testing (NDT), induction heating, power electronics, sensors, and industrial transformers.
Infolytica Corporation
Since 1978, the original MagNet software has evolved from a PDP version into a new high power design tool. Infolytica also added a high frequency analysis system, FullWave, to cover devices of microwave, communications and semiconductor industries. FullWave includes a unique resonance solver that eliminates the need for time consuming full frequency sweeps.
MagNet, ElecNet (Electric Fields) and FullWave provide a two-dimensional and a full three-dimensional modeling system with a true Microsoft® Windows interface and rapid graphical feedback. MagNet is further enhanced with links to the thermal package, ThermNet.
Infolytica's products are widely used in the design of high performance electromechanical products in industries such as aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, electrical appliances, medical heavy industry, power generating plants, instrumentation, communications and microwave device manufacturers. Infolytica software allows engineers to substantially reduce the prototyping time and eliminate major costs associated with prototyping.
Infolytica customers include leading electronics, telecommunication, motor and inductive heating manufacturers such as: General Electric, NTT, ABB, Toshiba, Sony, Inductotherm, Northrop Grumman, General Motors, Samsung and Harman Motive.
