Agito Networks, Inc., a company pioneering new technology in enterprise mobility, today announced that it has received a 2008 VON Magazine Judges’ Top 10 Innovator Award, which is awarded to the most innovative companies representing the future of the Internet Communications industry.
For the Judges’ Top 10 Picks, a panel of industry experts reviewed more than 200 companies across all facets of IP communications, with each judge selecting a “Top 10” list. Additional points were awarded if more than one judged voted for a particular company. All company point values were consolidated into a single list for the Judges Top 10 Innovator Award winners. Agito Networks ranked fourth overall out of all companies evaluated, and scored the highest out of all enterprise fixed mobile convergence (eFMC) and enterprise mobility companies.
“This is the first industry competition where Agito Networks has gone head-to-head against our competitors, and we’re pleased to be recognized as the highest ranked company in our space,” said Rob Markovich, Agito Networks Chief Executive Officer. “The industry continues to recognize and validate that Agito Networks’ location-aware mobile convergence solution is a superior way to address enterprises’ mobility needs. Agito uniquely meets enterprises’ mobility requirements at the application layer, with one-number identity and mobile extensions, and at the network layer, with mobile policies and the industry’s fastest intelligent handover between WLAN and cellular networks.”
The first-time awards were announced at the Spring VON.x Conference last week.
“The VON Magazine Judges’ Top 10 Innovator Picks represent the best of the VON Innovation Award winners announced earlier this month, and we’re pleased to congratulate Agito Networks for ranking so high in this competition,” said Bill Sell, Publisher, VON Media Group. “To be rated fourth out of more than 200 companies we evaluated, and the highest out of its competitors, is quite an achievement for this company. This award validates that Agito Networks shows a lot of promise among our judges due to its unique mobile convergence solution.”
Agito Networks’ award-winning RoamAnywhere Mobility Router uniquely fuses 802.11 wireless LANs (WLANs), enterprise IP telephony, and the carrier cellular network, improving mobile worker accessibility and responsiveness to increase mobile worker productivity. Agito’s innovative, patent-pending location-aware technology allows enterprises to mobilize voice by taking full advantage of their 802.11 WLAN deployments as a low-cost alternative to cellular networks for in-building enterprise mobility. Leveraging voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) enables enterprises to reduce cellular expenses by as much as 60 percent, and avoid deploying costly, carrier-specific equipment to address poor cellular coverage. To ensure a seamless user experience, the RoamAnywhere Mobility Router provides the industry’s fastest, sub-second, automatic handover between the enterprise WLAN networks and any carrier cellular network.
The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is unlike any enterprise mobility solution seen to date. The patent-pending, RF-based location aware technology ensures that in-building calls stay on the enterprise WLAN (using VoWLAN), to reduce cellular expenses and eliminate dropped or poor quality calls. Agito’s patent pending sub-second, automatic handover of calls between WiFi and cellular is transparent to users. Agito’s solution gives IT administrators the confidence to roll out VoWLAN across their enterprise, knowing the user experience will be as good as their wired phones, and that they can significantly reduce cellular expenses.
About the VON Magazine Innovation Awards
Building on the legacy of the Pulver 100, the VON Innovator Awards have evolved to recognize all companies – start-ups to publicly-traded companies – which represent the future of Internet Communications. Each participating company completed a lengthy and comprehensive nomination process, and the recipients have been selected from a committee made up of VON Magazine editors, columnists, and contributors, as well as the leading content producer for the VON.x conferences. The Inaugural VON Magazine Innovator Award winners were honored last week at Spring VON.x in San Jose.
