Mobileye N.V., a pioneer and leader in computer visionbased driver assistance systems for today’s leading automakers offers and expanded line of aftermarket products.
Already a leader in supplying sophisticated accident prevention and mitigation technologies for automotive manufacturers like BMW, Volvo and General Motors, Mobileye’s Advance Warning System (AWS) line of aftermarket products now offer the same advanced level of smart technology to every private and commercial vehicle owner.
One of the newest products in Mobileye’s portfolio of aftermarket products is the company’s easy to install Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system. Mobileye FCW™ includes innovations such as a Stop and Go, a feature designed to reduce the most common low speed accidents as well as alert drivers that traffic has started moving, for smoother traffic flow. Other products ideally suited to today’s challenging driving environment are Mobileye’s Data Recording (MDR™) and Mobileye Video Recording (MVR™) features, both of which help drivers track and capture invaluable real-time data and images around accidents or other on-the-road events.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration research, 99% of all accidents are due to human factor and more specifically, 80% of all driving mishaps are due to driver inattention in the three seconds immediately preceding the accident. With traffic congestion, driver inattention, fatigue and distraction all on the rise, Mobileye’s lane departure and vehicle detection technologies are an effective new solution to battling the statistics.
A Toolbox of World-Class Driver Assistance Technology for Every Budget and Need
Mobileye’s expanded family of Advance Warning System (AWS) aftermarket products offers a unique variety of driver safety and comfort solutions that are equally valuable whether a driver operates a big rig or a passenger vehicle. Each product in the Mobileye AWS™ tool box also safeguards both seasoned or novice drivers in all types of driving conditions. Additional support options, such as driving summaries and reports, are also available for commercial fleets, as well as private car owners. And, because Mobileye technology has been real-world tested and adopted by premium automakers around the globe, both consumer and commercial customers are ensured the best currently available safety solutions, in a variety of price ranges.
Variants of Mobileye AWS are available, including the AWS-4000, and AWS-1000. All include a smart camera, located on the front windshield inside the vehicle and utilize advanced vision technologies to detect and measure distances to lanes and vehicles, providing drivers with timely audio-visual alerts.
New for 2007 is the AWS-1000, especially designed for integration with existing systems, such as GPS or fleet management systems.
Mobileye’s Forward Collision Warning (FCW) System Adds New Stop and Go Feature
With driver distraction a major factor in traffic accidents and fatalities, Mobileye’s FCW product is an invaluable onboard companion for any driver who wants the best possible ammunition against rearend collisions. Mobileye FCW™ alerts drivers to both moving and stationary vehicles, while filtering out cars in adjacent lanes that pose no threat. Ever-vigilant regardless of weather or light conditions, Mobileye’s FCW warns drivers about an impending impact up to 2.7 seconds before an imminent collision – providing time for a driver to react to the threat.
An all-new feature of the system – Stop and Go – is designed to reduce accidents and increase driver comfort at speeds below 19 mph. Low-speed collisions, according to research by Volvo Car Corporation, account for 75% of all accidents and resulting whiplash injuries – the most common byproduct of low-speed impacts – cost employers and tax payers billions of dollars each year.
With the Mobileye Stop and Go feature, even navigating in bumper-to-bumper traffic can be safe and accident free. A second important feature of Stop and Go targets drivers who want to improve the quality of their daily commutes as well as contribute positively toward traffic flow. Deliberate or not, inattention during stop-and-start driving often results in delaying the vehicles behind you. With Mobileye Stop and Go™, a soft sound alerts the driver that traffic is once again moving – a reminder to the driver to pay attention and do the same.
Real-Time Event Tracking and Image Recording Tells the Straight Story
Whether used for fleet risk management or to monitor the skill set of a new driver or teenager, Mobileye data and video recording tools offer big benefits in today’s litigation-happy driving environment.
The Mobileye Data Recording (MDR™) Event Data Recorder tool is available as an add-on with Mobileye’s AWS products for consumers or for integration with existing fleet management solutions.
Based on Mobileye’s vehicle and lane detection technology, MDR offers much more than just traditional “black box” capabilities – it adds vision-based event triggering. Suitable for anyone who wants to track and analyze driving and vehicle behavior, MDR has full access to the wealth of Mobileye AWS advanced data, such as historic data on illegal lane crossing, traveling speed, average spent at different following distances, number of forward collision warnings issued to the driver and much more. The system also records exterior conditions that could influence an accident, such as road curvature radius, light conditions and weather. Whether a parent concerned about a new driver’s skills and vehicle usage or a fleet manager responsible for improving on-road safety, MDR delivers the right data for the job.
As a complement to MDR, the Mobileye Video Recording (MVR) tool takes the guess work out of reconstructing what led to – and transpired during and after – an accident or other vehicle incident. Video recording is triggered using a unique combination of a built-in G sensor with vision-based analysis of the driving scene, that detects when a “recorded-worthy” event, such as an impact, or cutting lanes has occurred.
The MVR captures the last few seconds preceding an event as well as additional seconds following it. The images are stored on a Flash memory, ready to be downloaded to an external computer for review by the driver, authorities or fleet managers.
EyeQ2™ and SeeQ® - The Muscle Behind Mobileye’s Driver Assistance Solutions
The EyeQ2, Mobileye’s second generation vision system on a chip (VSoC) delivers powerful solutions for computationally intensive applications of real-time visual recognition and scene integration.
In short, the chip instantly analyzes the potential risks to car and driver, as viewed and sensed. This newgeneration version of Mobileye’s original EyeQ sets new benchmarks for speed, programming flexibility and range of applications.
All Mobileye applications, including those available with the AWS aftermarket system, are fueled by the company’s sophisticated EyeQ™ vision system on a chip. With the processing power of two Pentium computers, but at a fraction of the cost, the EyeQ is the “brain” that analyzes the real-time images and road scenes. EyeQ also powers Mobileye’s SeeQ processing platform, an advanced vision processing module for automotive applications. The Mobileye SeeQ system includes a high dynamic range on-board camera designed to work in a wide range of challenging lighting situations.
