Books-And-Authors.Net recently announced the award recipients of their ‘Annual International Book Contest,’ with ‘2007 Best Autobiography’ going to “Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember” by southern author, Darlene Ford Wofford. Earlier in its manuscript form and under a different title it was also recognized Atlanta Writers Club ‘1996 Novel of the Year.’
The first of three novels planned for her “Edgewise” series based on true events, it has attracted international attention to the author’s writing, while generating local interest by the Atlanta radio stations and TV FOX 5 News. The term "Edgewise" is used to describe the book's protagonist as a young Atlanta woman whose mind has shut down to block out back-to-back traumatic events, however other memories of her life are blocked, as well. Told through the eyes of the author's alter ego, it is the inspiring story about triumph over tragedy, her healing progression and the prevailing strength of unconditional love. Jim Cox with The Midwest Book Review describes the novel as, "An inspired tribute to the strength of the human spirit, and of working through a process of recovery to overcome the wounds that life can inflict upon us without warning."
Suitably nicknamed “The Spirited Southerner” after co-hosting a weekly Saturday morning talk show on Atlanta radio throughout 2006, the Atlanta, GA native is an award-winning speaker with Toastmasters International. Living up to the nickname, her presentations are always enlightening and inspiring as a motivational/keynote speaker. The author will be a featured speaker at the 2008 Spring Book Show in Atlanta at the Georgia World Congress Center March 28-29th. Saturday Morning the 29th she will be sharing how she has been promoting her book and herself. For more information call 770-938-0289 or visit anvilpub.com
