BACA’s 2008 Awards Luncheon, being held at Plaisterers’ Hall, 1 London Wall, will centre around the official launch of BACA’s newly revitalised “quality mark.” The new BACA mark envelopes the already familiar BACA logo, which will then be used as a recognisable symbol of quality and integrity by the diverse air chartering industry. BACA, which has always expected its members to abide by its honourable code of conduct, will also be placing greater emphasis on its motto: “Our word, our bond.”

The new quality mark, proud motto and binding code of conduct are set to become the industry standard in 2008 for the entire air charter industry. BACA, which has always been known for its professionalism and industry dedication, is making great strides in 2008 to be more active and vocal. “We are the voice of the entire industry. Because of our history, because of our strength of membership and because of our sincere concern for this vital industry, BACA is taking broad action this year to be highly active, vocal and much more accessible to the public and press,” said Markham Jackson, BACA Chairman

The 2008 BACA Awards Luncheon will begin this year at 12:00 pm. Press passes are limited if you wish to attend please contact Sarah A. Chase at Image Line Communications. Sarah can be reached via telephone or via e-mail.

The Semi-Finalists for the 2008 BACA Awards have also recently been announced. High-ranking representatives from each category will be present at the luncheon. The nominees from each category are as follows:

Best Passenger Charter Airline:
Astraeus Airlines, Jet2.com and Titan Airways
Best Cargo Charter Airline:
African International, Air Contractors and Lufthansa
Best General Aviation Operator:
GAMA Aviation, London Executive and Twinjet
Best Airport:
Biggin Hill, East Midlands and Farnborough
Best Handling Agent:
Avia Partner, Servisair and Signature Flight Support

In addition, this year’s luncheon will feature an Awards Raffle in generous aid of the Chairman’s charity, ‘Under Tree Schools’, which fund raises for the building and supply of schools in Malek, Southern Sudan. ‘Under Tree Schools’ works to provide Sudanese children with much-needed educational classes year round instead of being taught “under trees,” which are subject to horrendous weather conditions and lack of facilities. To ensure the raffle is a fundraising success, Aeromega Helicopters has agreed to donate the first prize two tickets for a helicopter sightseeing tour of London.

Air BP is the main sponsor of this event. Gama Aviation will be sponsoring the wine and DHL, Direct Air Charters, Infratil Airports Europe, London Executive Aviation and Skyline Aviation are sponsoring the individual Awards.

BACA, with its official motto “Our Word, Our Bond,” is the widely respected as the world's largest and most prestigious network for aircharter professionals. BACA represents the interests of commercial aviation companies particularly in the aircharter industries and markets. Current membership includes some 125 companies, which represent numerous airbrokers, charter airlines, airports, business aircraft operators, freight forwarders, consultants and others. BACA’s principal objective is to promote integrity and ethical business practices so members can deal with each other with confidence, regardless where they're based or whether they have met each other before. BACA is the successor of the Airbrokers' Association founded by members of the Baltic Mercantile and Shipping Exchange in March 1949. Its purpose was to bring to aircraft chartering the same standards of integrity and professionalism for which the Baltic Exchange and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers had, for so long, been known and respected. BACA council members are always available for commentary and interviews. BACA is headquartered at the Baltic Exchange at 38 St. Mary Axe in London.
