Informa, the owners of information super-brands including Lloyd’s MIU and Datamonitor - in association with Lloyd’s List, the international maritime and transport newspaper - have launched India’s first large-scale exhibition dedicated entirely to maritime and naval defence and security.
MSI 2008 is a 3 day international exhibition with 2 day conference, which will bring together a large number of end users and buyers from Indian and international navies, coast guards, shipping companies, ports and governments. The event is being launched after several months of research conducted by Informa & Lloyd’s List in India, the US, Europe, Asia and other key regions.
“The realm of maritime security today extends to comprehensively include the defensive and anti-terrorist role of navies, the anti-piracy and anti-smuggling responsibilities of coast guards as well as of course the commercial interests of shipping companies and ports all over the world. India as a major geo-strategic and maritime power has, in recent years - along with many of her international counterparts - placed significant emphasis on the safeguarding of its maritime and sea-influenced national security” says Abhaey Singh, Managing Director of Informa India.
He adds “In the Indian context, this focus also extends to an aspiration for and significant effort to achieve a truly blue water navy. The commensurate opportunity for international partners to work with India to safeguard these interests in the context of the above, therefore, is clearly immense.”
The event places a major focus on current and future Indian plans and requirements, and also attracts end users and buyers from virtually every noteworthy maritime market within Asia, the Middle East (Gulf region), Europe and the Americas, including major countries such as the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Russia, Egypt, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, as well as important emerging markets such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Brazil and Vietnam.
“Both the MSI 2008 exhibition and conference will provide a much needed and highly focused platform to facilitate information exchange and networking between the Indian and international maritime and naval communities,” adds Singh.
