Sporting hero James Cracknell is nearing the end of his Cross Continent Challenge to raise money for Sport Relief. The athlete has just over 100 miles left of his mammoth 1,500 mile endurance test taking him from Dover to Morocco by human power alone in under ten days.
James Cracknell set out on his journey on 28 February, rowing the Channel in six hours having capsized in the rough sea after only two minutes. Since then he has cycled through a rainsoaked France, defeated the gruelling Pyrenees and made good progress through Spain, all the time braving ever more painful blisters. Only a dangerous swim through the shark infested waters of the Straits of Gibraltar now stands between James and victory.
The challenge is supported by Nokia who provided James with the latest Nokia N82 handset equipped with all the technology he needs to navigate his way across the continent and keep in touch with family and fans while en route.
To enable fans to keep track of James’ progress during the Sport Relief challenge, Nokia created a website where they can view James’ real-time position at any time thanks to the Nokia N82’s assisted-GPS function. The site features photos and videos documenting the James’ journey recorded on the Nokia N82 and uploaded via its wi-fi connectivity. Nokia is also encouraging fans to use the site to sponsor James Cracknell and send him good luck messages.
