Mountain View, CA, United States, 2008/03/04 - Omnitrol Networks announced today sponsorship of a two-day hands-on workshop organized by the Manufacturing Systems and Automation (MSA) Laboratory at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA).
The event will highlight the possibilities, opportunities and challenges associated with the deployment of RFID and sensor technologies across the manufacturing enterprise. Through technical presentations, case studies, and hands-on exercises in the laboratory, attendees will learn how RFID and sensor technologies can enable process visibility and productivity improvement.
Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility business group is a co-sponsor of the event and will assist with technical and business expertise. Instructors will share real-world deployment experiences from shop-floor to top-floor integration. Through the use of advanced simulation tools, attendees will identify processes that can benefit from contact-less technologies, and develop a roadmap for deployment and integration with existing information systems.
Dr. Can Saygin, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Manufacturing Systems and Automation Laboratory at UTSA will lead the two-day workshop and share his experience with the San Antonio manufacturing community. Upon completion of the workshop, the attendees will receive a certificate and 1 Continuing Education Unit approved by UTSA Office of Extended Education.
“For manufacturers, RFID represents the single most important opportunity for greater automation and work-in-process management improvement. Costs and complexity have created serious barriers to delivering real business value. Omnitrol Networks is very pleased to sponsor this UTSA workshop that provides manufacturers with practical experience courses and roadmaps to faster ROI and simpler deployments”, said David Orain, Vice-President Marketing at Omnitrol Networks.
The workshop will begin on Thursday March 27th, 2008. Register by sending an email to can.saygin[.]utsa.edu.
