Giant wanted to increase the number of potential customers visiting the Hatfield, PA Grand Opening event and encourage them to continue shopping at the new store in the future. To achieve this goal, JPL produced an interactive Flash floor plan of the Hatfield location so shoppers could familiarize themselves with the new store before and during their visits.
“Customers often remain loyal to food retailers based on quality products, distance to their home and convenience while shopping. When a new store opens, relying on curiosity to bring in new customers isn’t enough,” said Nancy Appleby, Director of Advertising for Giant Food Stores.
“In the past we’ve turned to traditional advertising as well as mailing marketing CD-ROMs to potential customers but showcasing our new store on the Internet helped us reach our goals more quickly, more effectively and at a lower cost,” she added.
Visitors to the special Giant web page viewed a virtual layout of the new store and were able to view several fifteen-second videos on the produce, bakery, deli, floral, meat, seafood and other departments. Additionally, at the end of the videos, customers could click to view special coupons for the department. Visitors could also print out a PDF of the store floor plan and get directions to the new store location.
