Debut Broadcasting Corporation, Inc. (OTC BB: DBTB.OB), a media and entertainment company, today announced partnerships with Boswell Media and MJI Interactive that will provide new advertising and listener interaction opportunities for its radio stations.
The new business relationships with Boswell Media and MJI Interactive bring top 100 market technologies to the Debut Broadcasting™ network, which increases the company’s revenue producing capabilities and its value. Boswell Media, a broadcast, Internet and events marketing company, provides an integrated advertising platform for the Web sites of Debut-owned radio stations. Additionally, MJI’s Mobile Xpress Messenger™ service allows Debut to enhance listener interaction with two-way text messaging between radio stations and listeners, and improving advertiser/consumer interaction.
“Through these new agreements Debut gains access to new media enhancements, namely Internet and short message services (SMS), which allow us to integrate new media into our existing sales model,” said Steven Ludwig, CEO of Debut Broadcasting. “This makes us the first media sales organization in our markets to offer this level of integration to our advertising partners.”
Boswell Media’s scrolling banner ad capabilities will be utilized throughout Debut’s radio stations’ Websites. The scrolling banner ads will be placed at the top of each Web page in order to maximize visibility and will enable every advertiser equal advertising time and space through the continuous scrolling. Boswell Media will provide this Internet infrastructure, as well as technical and sales training, to ensure Debut’s existing radio sales force is trained to integrate the new media opportunities into ad campaigns.
“The Internet can be a powerful, synergistic tool for radio broadcasters, but so few have developed it effectively,” said Johnny Boswell, president of Boswell Media. “Our unique ad-hosting platform allows radio broadcasters to become the most robust source of local news and information available on the Internet in small- to medium-sized communities. By embracing the far-reaching power of the Internet, Debut is able to monetize the resulting Web audience by increasing its ad partnerships.”
MJI Interactive’s Mobile Xpress Messenger allows radio stations to interact via text message with listeners. MJI’s service will provide the following,
• Keyword auto response capabilities to deliver alerts, weather, contests, special promotions and other time-sensitive information
• The ability to conduct real-time audience polls
• Subscription management services, which enables the station to easily send targeted text message updates to listeners who have opted-in
“Debut clearly recognizes the importance of connecting with its listeners on-air, as well as off-air,” said Margaret Shiverick, president of MJI Interactive. “The company’s decision to deploy MJI’s Mobile Xpress Messenger software tools helps Debut’s radio stations to form stronger relationships with its listeners while increasing loyalty to the station. Since Debut Broadcasting is a growing company, listener loyalty is incredibly important. We provide easy to use software tools that have an almost instant impact with listeners, regardless of what wireless service provider they may be on.”
Text message capabilities provided by MJI Interactive also create additional advertising outlets and opportunities for ad partners, and subsequently an increase in revenue due to additional advertising channels. The two-way text technology allows the radio stations to easily send out promotions, coupons and messages from its advertising partners straight to listeners’ cellular phones.
Prior to being acquired by Debut, its radio stations were standalone operations and the technologies implemented through new relationships with Boswell Media and MJI were not cost effective. Debut's strategy brings tactics and technologies traditionally reserved for the top 100 radio markets into the smaller market service areas in which it operates.
“This strategy makes new media advertising more accessible to advertisers in smaller markets,” Ludwig said. “For example, GM may advertise on the Internet very efficiently, but a local GM dealer in the Mississippi Delta can’t easily isolate potential car buyers in his immediate trading area. Now, our Radio sales force in this region becomes the solution for the local GM dealer, much the same way Google™ can offer a solution for GM.”
“The introduction of this three-part advertising strategy (on-air, Internet and text message commercials/ads) maximizes opportunities for our advertising partners and enables Debut to position itself as something more than just a radio company. With the addition of Boswell Media and MJI Interactive’s advertising technology and the planned expansion of our radio station network this year, Debut is emerging as a true media and entertainment company.”
Debut Broadcasting currently dominates radio market share in the greater Greenville, Miss. marketplace and plans to expand further in the southeastern United States.
