NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Riverside, CA, United States, 02/25/2008 - Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center presents its 16th Annual Walk With The Animals fundraiser March 22, Fairmount Park, Riverside, CA, with Mayor Ron Loveridge as Grand Marshal. Classic rock station KOLA 99.9 FM to broadcast from the event.

   
 

Riverside (CA) Humane Society Pet Adoption Center (RHSPAC) presents its 16th Annual Walk With The Animals March 22 from 8 am to noon at Fairmount Park in Riverside. Grand Marshal for the two-mile walk is Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge with his adopted dog Sundance. Proceeds will help provide care and shelter for the cats and dogs awaiting adoption at RHSPAC.

Registration for walkers and their pets starts at 8:00; walk begins at 9:00. Walk With The Animals is free and open to the public. Participation in the walk is not required. There will be food, entertainment, animal-related exhibits, and activities for all ages. Classic rock station KOLA-FM 99.9 with Patti Banner will broadcast live from the event.

Walk participants are encouraged to collect pledges to sponsor their effort. The registration/pledge form is available on the RHSPAC web site, at RHSPAC, 6165 Industrial St., Riverside, or by calling.

First prize for collecting the most money is a Saturday night for two in a suite at the Historic Mission Inn, plus Sunday brunch. Second prize is Sunday brunch for two at the Historic Mission Inn. The top business team will be recognized with a commemorative plaque installed in the Pet Adoption Center. All walkers raising $75 receive a Walk t-shirt.

The event features a pancake breakfast, demonstrations by Muttley Crew K-9 Entertainment, Riverside Police Dept.’s K-9 unit, Owner-Pet Look-Alike and Most Talented/Clever Pet contests, bake sale and boutique for people and pets, and raffle. Animal-related exhibits and rescue groups will offer information, products, services, and animals for adoption. There will be free water and pet cleanup bags.

Riverside County Dept. of Animal Services (RCDAS) will offer rabies vaccinations and microchipping. Spay/neuter vouchers will be available. Cindy Tait, president, Center for Healthcare Education, will administer first aid to humans; Dr. Allan Drusys, chief veterinarian, RCDAS, will provide first aid for pets.
