Competitive racing in the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series: SuperSport Twins and GrandSport Twins is scheduled for Feb. 29, March 1 and 2 at Daytona International Speedway.
Buell riders and teams claimed five national championships last year, including the American Sportbike Racing Association (ASRA) Pro Thunderbike National Championship and the MOTO-ST Grand Sport Touring Manufacturer Championship.
'This should be an exciting race year,' said Paul James, director of product communications for Harley-Davidson and Buell Motorcycles. 'We expect to see Dave Estok successfully defend his ASRA-Pro Thunderbike Championship on the XB12R. He won six of the eight championship races early on in the season last year, and he's favored to do it again this year.' He's sponsored by Deeley Harley-Davidson in Canada.
The reps at Harley-Davidson and Buell will also be watching Walt Sipp, the promising young Bison Racing Team rider from Kansas City, who was the first Buell XBRR racer to complete the AMA - Daytona 200. 'After watching last year's Daytona 200, I'm sure we will be watching a very gutsy performance,' said James. 'He spilled his bike, then picked it up, got on it and finished the race.'
Race week culminates at the speedway with the Supercross on the 7th and Daytona 200 on the 8th.
