When the producers of ABC’s hit show WIFE SWAP invited Lori Reeves and her family to participate last spring, she knew it would be a rare opportunity to promote GET FIT WITH SQEDUNK, a new early childhood exercise DVD Reeves was planning to produce.
Since then, life has grown increasingly busy for Reeves, with GET FIT WITH SQEDUNK slated for official release on January 12 and her family’s episode of WIFE SWAP set to air January 16 on ABC.
Known to her young fans as the energetic Miss Lori, Reeves started Sqedunk Children Productions three years ago, using the character of Sqedunk, a human-sized, rag doll piglet designed to engage young imaginations. “Miss Lori” has since toured the country in a live stage show featuring herself and Sqedunk and released a children’s book and two award-winning DVDs.
Early accolades for her latest DVD, GET FIT WITH SQEDUNK, include the Seal of Approval from the Dove Foundation an endorsement from the Coalition for Quality Children’s Media’s Kids First rating program. Reeves’ previous DVD, “Finger Plays with Miss Lori,” garnered similar praise upon its release.
Reeves says WIFE SWAP proved more challenging than expected for her family. For two weeks, a television crew filmed as a Tulsa mother of three swapped placed with Reeves, moving in with Reeves’ son and husband.
“I had a rewarding experience with the Tulsa family. I gave the children their childhood back,” said Reeves. “But there were some hard times for my son and husband, who stayed behind and had to live by the new wife's rules.”
The family feels the WIFE SWAP experience will be worth it, though, if word continues to spread about GET FIT WITH SQEDUNK. Reeves’ son and husband both act in the Sqedunk Children Productions shows.
Reeves has chosen to sell GET FIT WITH SQEDUNK with two free bonuses – an exercise sequence filmed during one of her “Miss Lori Live” shows and the book Sqedunk Takes a Tub Tub (as told by Miss Lori).
More About Miss Lori
Concerned by the lack of mentors for today’s children and inspired by such past heroes as Mr. (Fred) Rogers and Captain Kangaroo, Miss Lori (a.k.a. Lori Reeves) founded SQEDUNK CHILDREN PRODUCTIONS in 2002. Miss Lori aims to offer positive, healthy entertainment for young children and their parents in various media, including print, video, internet, and live stage shows.
Due to population growth and budget shortfalls, physical education has become a low priority in schools, with many schools having cut such programming entirely. Miss Lori encourages parents and youth educators to refocus on the importance of young children maintaining healthy bodies. Due to research that shows exercising at a young age can help establish fitness as a life long goal, Miss Lori wants even the youngest of children to learn about the fun of fitness.
Miss Lori’s new DVD, GET FIT WITH SQEDUNK entertains young children, while providing parents and educators with an easy resource to guide children through a set of fun, simple exercises.
