Bikeweek.com has launched “Trail Sharing” for motorcycle enthusiasts. Utilizing web-based map technology wrapped around some powerful and easy tools, Bikeweek.com has made it possible for motorcyclists to map, share and print out copies of their own favorite rides.
“Based on feedback from motorcycle enthusiasts, we know Trail Sharing is something that motorcyclists will enjoy and share,” said Larry Oliphant, president of the site’s development and promotion company, Enthused Media. “The goal of a community is to share and connect. Trail Sharing, our new 2 Wheels Auction, forums, photo galleries, and more, all allow and promote this community to do just that. We expect that the riders themselves will upload and share thousands of trails and the experiences that accompany them in the coming months and years.”
Site visitors can map their own favorite trails, and vote for the ride they would call the Greatest Trail in North America.
1. Ride the Blue Ridge Parkway, VA to NC….Ride the Blue Ridge Parkway through Civil War battle sites in Virginia to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park in North Carolina. There is no fee for using the parkway. The speed limit is 45 miles per hour, and the roadway is well maintained for sightseeing.
2. Commemorative Trail of Tears, AL…If you believe, "It's not where you ride. It's who you ride with that makes it special," then join over 100,000 riders on the 3rd Saturday in September for the annual Trail of Tears ride from Chattanooga, TN to Florence, AL and a 3-day Native American Pow-Wow and motorcycle festival in McFarland Park.
3. Straight as an Arrow to Key West, FL…When the rest of the country is freezing, you can treat yourself to this unusual 120-mile run from mainland Florida to Key West, passing through Key Largo, made famous by Humphrey Bogart, over the Seven Mile Bridge, the longest segmented bridge in the world, landing at Sloppy Joes and other Ernest Hemmingway haunts.
4. Tail of the Dragon, NC Loop…. Start at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge & Campground in Franklin, NC to ride this 150-mile trail that takes in the infamous Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, the Fontana Mini Dragon, as well as the scenic Cherohala Skyway.
5. San Juan Skyway, Rocky Mountain, CO Loop…From Ridgway to Ouray to Silverton on the historic Million Dollar Highway, over Coal Bank Summit and the Molas Divide, the route includes waterfalls, ghost towns, former mining towns, Red Mountain Pass, Mesa Verde National Park and Telluride. The San Juan Skyway loop is a beautiful summer ride, approx. 240 miles.
6. Route 66, Grand Canyon Trail …Rent a bike in Las Vegas, and ride the historic Route 66 to the Grand Canyon in about 8 hours through desert and mountain terrain in Nevada and Arizona.
7. Washington State’s Ring of Fire … A one-day ride (300-plus miles) from the shoreline to the granite Cascades, across the desert flatlands to a Bavarian village and apple orchards, to the glaciers of Washington State.
8. Lake Lanier, Northern Georgia …Ride (aprox. 85 miles) along the gentle countryside leading to the pretty lakeside of Lake Lanier. Travel up and down the hills of North Georgia. Check out the park at the north most point of the trail ride.
9. Northern Pacific Coast Highway, CA …Ride approx. 200 unspoiled miles of California's Pacific Coast Highway from just north of the Golden Gate Bridge to the Red Wood forests near Fort Bragg.
10. “The Loop” in Ormond-by-the-Sea, FL ... This 15-mile run begins when you take Exit 278 off of I-95. This is some of the last of Old Florida… wetlands and old oaks, and the ocean breeze along AIA. It doesn’t get any better than this.
