NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Tampa, FL, United States, 01/18/2008 - Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio cut the ribbon on law firm Bush Ross's new Tampa Heights headquarters and a refurbished adjacent park, a sign of further revitalization of the once blighted Tampa Heights district.

Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio cut the ribbon as a crowd of dignitaries and special guests looked on to officially open the newly constructed office building of the Tampa law firm Bush Ross, P.A. and the adjacent revitalized Phil Bourquardez Park.

After 23 years at 220 South Franklin Street, Bush Ross recently relocated to1801 North Highland Avenue in the burgeoning downtown Tampa Heights District. The newly erected Mediterranean-style building features 34,000-square-feet of business space built to accommodate 52 attorneys and 50 support staff.

Mayor Iorio was joined by Tampa Parks and Recreation Director Karen Palus. Also on hand for the festivities were Phyllis Gates, daughter of Phil Bourquardez, a former Tampa City Clerk whose grandfather was one of Tampa’s early pioneers, her grandson, Bill Gates, Jr., and a host of friends and other special guests.

Bush Ross funded the renovation of Phil Bourquardez Park as part of the ongoing revitalization of the Tampa Heights District. Though the park remains in City hands, Bush Ross will fund maintenance of the facility for the next ten years.
Mayor Iorio said Bush Ross’ commitment to the Tampa Heights District was further evidence that the area is experiencing a renaissance. She also noted that when the city’s Riverwalk project is completed, the firm’s new offices will anchor one end of the two-and-a-half-mile scenic walkway along the Hillsborough River ending in the Channelside District.
