In continuation of Le Méridien Amman’s support to the Families and Friends Society of Persons with Disabilities (FFSPD), the hotel hosted its fifth charity brunch, under the patronage of HRH Princess Mona Al-Hussein, the Honorary President of FFSPD, as part of its continuous activities aimed at giving back to the local community.
Gerhard Mansbart, General Manager of Le Méridien Amman said "We have been hosting the FFSPD charity brunches/ lunches since 2005 and it has become a permanent event on our calendar. This is the second event of the year and it is an honor for all us at Le Méridien to be part of such a worthy cause.“
During the brunch, FFSPD announced the launch of their new project with Best Buddies Organizations in the USA, which will attempt to integrate disabled persons into societies by encouraging non-disabled people to have them as friends and become buddies. FFSPD will launch this initiative for the first time in Jordan in cooperation with Amman National Schools.
HRH Princess Mona Al-Hussein was also honored with a plaque after she was awarded the Shield of Honor of the ARCON Award in Baltimore, an award given to pioneers in the health and nursing field.
FFSPD was founded in 1994 as a pioneer society in serving neglected and multi-disabled people. The society raises community awareness about disability and disabled people's issues with the help and participation of volunteers, families and friends.
