Buffalo, NY, United States, 11/19/2007 - Time Warner Cable today announced a new local sports network Time Warner Sportnet on channel 13. Local high school and college sports can now be seen live and on tape delay. Additionally, Hockey greats Rob Ray and Matthew Barnaby will host a show.

Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second-largest cable television operator, today announced that it has revamped its origination channel into primarily a local sports channel, Time Warner Cable SportsNet. Weekly programming highlights will include Enforcers with former Buffalo Sabres Rob Ray and Matthew Barnaby and the Press Pass Football Edition with Howard Simon, both on Monday evenings. Key contributors to the new format will be AHL hockey games from Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany; basketball and hockey games from local colleges Canisius, UB, St. Bonaventure and Niagara; Syracuse University basketball and lacrosse games and coaches shows from UB and Syracuse. There will be programming to entertain the snowmobile enthusiast, NASCAR racing fan and those who enjoy Great Lakes Fishing.

Time Warner Cable SportsNet launched on today following a 10:00 am press conference unveiling the new studio set and introduction of on-air celebrities, including Rob Ray and Matthew Barnaby. The press conference was held at Time Warner Cable’s Channel 13 studios, located at 795 Indian Church Road in West Seneca.
