THE JETSTAR GROUP will produce two street festivals in conjunction with the Grey Cup Committee for the 2007 Grey Cup Festival in Toronto this month: The Pepsi Front Street Festival and the VIA Rail Bremner Street Festival. Free to enter, the Pepsi Front Street Festival will be the perfect stop for adults featuring a licensed area and free rush hour concerts. The Via Rail Bremner Street Festival will feature family fun with a children’s interactive area, a BMX Bike Park, the Grey Cup House and a football fan interactive area.
“Fans on Front Street will rock to the sounds of East coast band SLOAN while Bremner Street goes crazy for former Max Webster front man KIM MITCHELL, as both perform their numerous hits at free Grey Cup game day tailgate parties,“ said Andrew Turner, JETSTAR Founder and President.
JETSTAR approached and reviewed hundreds of artists in their repertoire to determine suitability before selecting the final 20+ bands to play at the Pepsi Front Street and Via Rail Bremner Street outdoor stages. “It’s been a lot of fun,” said Turner. “This was our first time working with on a Grey Cup festival and I know Canadian football fans will be very happy with our results.”
“We are pleased that Jetstar was able to produce the vision we had for both the Pepsi Front Street Festival and Via Rail Bremner Street Festival,” said Brad Watters, General Manager, 2007 Grey Cup. “Providing fans with both a great line-up, as well as an affordable experience was very important as we make the 2007 Grey Cup Festival bigger and better than ever.”
JETSTAR also produced the Bremner Street Family Day, to be held on Saturday, November 24. “Having FRANKLIN THE TURTLE on the BREMNER STREET STAGE is sure to make many children happy, “said Turner. Other confirmed performers include cover acts: HOTEL CALIFORNIA (THE EAGLES), THE PRACTICALLY HIP (TRAGICALLY HIP), RATTLE & HUM (U2), SMOOTH (SANTANA) and DESTROYER (KISS), as well as DJs and bands playing a variety of original music.
The Pepsi Front Street Festival will feature performers such as Social Code, illScarlett, Major Maker, The Reason and Inward Eye set to take the stage during live-to-air 102.1 The Edge broadcasts. Also, a pancake breakfast hosted by the Calgary Stampeders will provide brunch for fans on Thursday and Friday prior to the show.
