Kineo brings benefits of rapid e-learning to defence sector.

The messages from over 400 participants from across the armed forces at the Modern Learning Symposium 2007 (MLS 07), on HMS Sultan in Gosport, on Oct 31s, were clear. The defence sector is under pressure to improve efficiency in training. The defence sector review will bring further pressure. There are drivers to reduce cost and deliver better value in training. At the same time, there’s an appetite for innovation, with many participants seeking to make the best use of web 2.0 tools and technologies. Can this be done, while driving down costs and accelerating timelines?

Steve Rayson, Kineo’s managing partner, addressed these issues head-on. In his presentation entitled ‘Rapid e-learning: tools and techniques’, he explained how rapid e-learning is different – and better – than traditional e-learning techniques.

He explained its potential to reduce cost, accelerate delivery and achieve high quality, engaging e-learning experiences. Illustrating with several examples, he demonstrated the four techniques at the core of Kineo’s rapid approach:

• Changing the development process to focus on getting to a first version
• Working in small, flexible teams
• Using templates and patterns for re-usability
• Using web 2.0 tools to keep content refreshed and current

Speaking after the event, Steve Rayson commented: “We’re delighted with the response we received at the MLS event. Rapid e-learning has clearly resonated with the defence sector. Many participants in the audience commented to us that the current approach they’re taking with e-learning is simply costing too much and taking too long. Today they’ve seen that with the right tools and techniques, rapid e-learning enables those in the training community to say yes more often to tight budgets and short timelines. We look forward to working with new partners in the defence sector to deliver to them the rapid e-learning results that our corporate clients, including BP, Google and Cable & Wireless have achieved.”

Kineo will also present and exhibit at Learning Technologies on January 30th and 31st at the Olympia in London. Learn more about Kineo’s rapid e-learning services at the Kineo website.
