Today, thanks to a continued focus on improving digital media experience, Metabeam announces the delivery of a new service for producers to connect fans to more content. Demonstrating the solution at Digital Hollywood Fall 2007, Metabeam CEO Chris Brown will show how SimpleROM.com offers a new model for DVD or CD producers to unite their disc content with online content, and provide a natural pathway for viewers to connect to more content logically associated with the media product.
SimpleROM .com is a pay-as-you-go or subscription-based service where producers upload their standard web content for processing, then download a simple ROM image to add to their DVD or CD project that will cause the media to behave as a conduit to additional content. When a user launches a disc enhanced by SimpleROM .com in a Windows computer, the disc’s main feature will begin playing in the user’s default media player software, and simultaneously their default web browser will showcase the embedded link in another window. It’s that simple, with nothing for the end user to install.
“Today’s consumers want to access as much content as they can, in as many ways as possible,” said Chris Brown, CEO of Metabeam. “SimpleROM .com brings fans closer to new, exclusive content without adding significant production costs or requiring users to obtain, use or learn new technology. Producers who enrich their products with the rich content fans seek will be successful in garnering more mindshare and create an opportunity to generate new revenue streams.”
Chris will demonstrate a SimpleRom .com success story using a DVD board game from B1Games based on hit television series The Amazing Race. Producers and publishers can use SimpleRom .com today at simplerom. com. Attendees of Digital Hollywood Fall can also meet with Chris Brown at the show to see a live demonstration of the solution. Chris will be participating as a panel member in the discussion on Personalized Video, Music & Gaming Experience on Thursday, November 1st, at 2:15 pm.
