The Florida Department of Health and EMSTARS project stakeholders announced this week that emsCharts, Inc. products have achieved compliance with the Florida EMS Tracking and Reporting System (EMSTARS) standards for electronic patient data collection and submission.
The EMSTARS project was initiated for the purpose of bringing Florida online with the National EMS Information System (NEMSIS) directives. EMS Agencies across the state are being asked to submit incident level data to the EMSTARS database in order to measure and improve statewide emergency care. Voluntary agency participation is scheduled to begin July 1, 2008; however many services have already begun to submit incident data to the EMSTARS project as part of a pilot program.
In order to facilitate the process of seamless data collection and submission to the system, the EMSTARS project committee is evaluating commercial patient data collection systems for compliance. The emsCharts web-based patient data collection system was awarded full compliance, meeting all requirements for the needs of Florida’s EMS providers.
Tampa General Aeromed will be the first emsCharts customer in Florida to send data to the EMSTARS database as a participant in Stage 1 of the EMSTARS pilot program.
“We are proud to offer a streamlined software solution to our customers in Florida making the data submission process simple and easy to use,” says Greg Howard, Director of Sales at emsCharts, Inc. “It is our goal to help save lives. Providing public safety data to EMSTARS enables regulatory personnel to allocate resources, target high risk locations, and focus on injury prevention.”
emsCharts helped to pioneer real-time and electronic data collection with the use of the Web to connect first responders with hospitals and reporting agencies; thus expediting the entire process and leaving more time to focus on patients’ needs. emsCharts, Inc. also offers mobile, offline versions of their web product.
