Al Masaood Automobiles, exclusive distributors for Nissan and Infiniti in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have announced the arrival of the all new Nissan Xterra. The 2008 Nissan Xterra joins established members of the Nissan 4WD stable: the Armada, Murano, Pathfinder and Patrol.
The Nissan Xterra is equipped with a 4.0 litre V6 engine (DOHC, 24 valves), mated to five-speed automatic transmission, producing 291 hp at 5,600 rpm and 41.7 kg-m torque at 4,000 rpm.
Speaking at the occasion Mr. David Radcliffe, General Manager, Al Masaood Automobiles commented “Customers in UAE show a marked preference for SUV vehicles and we are confident that the all new Xterra will appeal to the traditional SUV customers as well as young, sporty and active customers with its winning combination of style, versatility, off road stability as well as its superior handling and dynamic engine power”.
Xterra’s highly capable 4WD system features a shift on the fly 4 Wheel Drive with 2 speed transfer case, which allows shifting between 2WD and 4H mode at speeds upto 100 kmph.
For severe off-road conditions, the system also features a 4LO with an impressive crawl ratio that includes dual speed off-roading situations providing a dynamic combination of technology for the serious off roader.
The Xterra’s hard core design comes through even in the most difficult off roading situations with ground clearance of upto 9.5 “ and angle of approach of 33 degrees and 29 degrees angle of departure.
The radically flexible interior of the Xterra allows for ease of carrying passengers as well as equipment and cargo. The high performance sound system serves up an audio experience as extreme as the ground that the Xterra can be driven on.
Occupant safety is enhanced through provision of Zone body construction that disperses crash energy to help protect the occupant compartment if the unavoidable happens. Front and rear crumple zones, energy absorbing frame side members, reinforced body structure and bumper height help lessen the effects of an impact and provide maximum protection.
The Nissan Xterra was originally introduced in North America and was marketed as a simple, but capable SUV with the slogan ‘Everything you need, nothing you don’t’ and won motor Trend ‘SUV of the Year’ award in 2005.
For the convenience of its occupants, the Xterra features Power windows and mirrors, power-assisted steering, audio system, manual air-conditioning, remote keyless entry, alloy wheels, low tyre-pressure indicator, and separate steps on rear bumper and rear bumper side as standard equipment.
The higher grades are equipped with front fog lamps, six-speaker audio system with 6-disk CD changer, movable aerodynamic roof-rail cross bars, trip computer, cruise control, and 17-inch tyres.
Standard safety features include dual airbags and seat belt reminder, anti-lock braking with electric brake force distribution, and brake assist. The higher grades provide enhanced safety through provision of inflatable curtain bags and vehicle dynamic control.
