The Me Fine Foundation is a nonprofit providing assistance for children and families at the Duke Children’s Hospital and the North Carolina Children’s Hospital at UNC. Most families struggle with overwhelming medical costs as well as personal outpatient housing and living expenses while their child is undergoing treatment. The Me Fine Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to relieving these families of this added stress as they face these life-changing challenges.
The American Advertising Federation urges local chapters to participate each year in a local Public Service Campaign; reaching out to bring professional advertising and promotion assistance to civic, charitable, and public service projects as approved by each local Board of Directors. John Walser, PSA co-chair for the Raleigh-Durham chapter, said, “The AAF Raleigh-Durham is excited to be able to help the Me Fine Foundation. Utilizing the clubs members and other resources, advertising strategies will be created to bring a greater awareness of the many services the Me Fine Foundation offers to struggling families.” Jeff Robinson, last years PSA chair adds, “Continuing to be involved with an annual PSA, gives the club an opportunity to thank all of the local media and advertising professionals, that donate time, space and money; we are greatly appreciative.”
The club uses a very structured interviewing process to select from the large number of entries it receives. One deciding factor was that the Me Fine Foundation is the only non-profit of its type in the Raleigh-Durham market to offer funds to these suffering families for day to day survival purposes. The campaign will be developed by senior advertising students from Campbell University’s Mass Communication Department. Dr. Edward Johnson, Associate Professor of Mass Communications at Campbell University, will help his senior students work closely with advertising , creative, and media professionals to develop an effective campaign; allowing the students to gain practical experience in working on a real life campaign. Advertising strategies to be considered are emerging and new media ads, print ads, television ads, radio ads, billboards and collateral materials for the organization. The PSA advertising plan and ad copy will be unveiled at the AAF-Raleigh-Durham’s January 17th 2008, meeting.

About the Me Fine Foundation Inc.
The Me Fine Foundation Inc. (mefinefoundation.org) is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance for children and families at the Duke Children’s Hospital and the North Carolina Children’s Hospital at UNC. The foundation was founded by friends and family of Folden Lee, IV, who was diagnosed with AML Leukemia in May of 2003. During his 15-month battle with this disease, Folden’s family found that along with the tremendous stress of caring for a child with a life-threatening illness, most families struggle with overwhelming medical costs as well as personal outpatient housing and living expenses while their child is undergoing treatment. The Me Fine Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to relieving these families of this added stress as they face these life-changing challenges. For more information, please call (919) 202-0086. Information on the club and upcoming events can be found on their homepage. The club recently voted to change its name to AAF Raleigh-Durham to better serve the local ad community. Utilizing the American Advertising Federations national presence and brand the Raleigh-Durham chapter is one of the first in the nation to honor this name change and many clubs are in the process of making similar changes. The overall goal is to better serve the AAF Mission, which is to protect and promote the well-being of advertising. It accomplishes this through a unique, nationally coordinated grassroots network of advertisers, agencies, media companies, local advertising clubs and college chapters. AAF Raleigh-Durham is one of several clubs in the Third District that participates at the national level of the AAF. Monthly events and programs take place the third Thursday of the month alternating between luncheons and dinners (11:30am-1:30pm or 5:30pm-7:30pm).
