Omega Environmental Technologies, a leading U.S. distributor of aftermarket automotive air conditioning products, signed a contract with the University of Texas at Arlington for services provided through its Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) on November 22 to complete the ISO 9001:2000 certification.
TMAC will help design systems that ensure Omega’s quality management standards are compliant with the International Standards Organization (ISO). The certification is scheduled to be awarded in July 2006. Thereafter, Omega will be audited each year in order to maintain its certification.
Paula Arango, an industrial engineer, has been hired to a newly created position within Omega as in-house ISO auditor to facilitate the changes and ensure compliance with the new systems. She will hold an integral position for the ongoing effort of quality management and improvements.
“The ISO certification process requires a serious commitment of time and resources but is well worth it when you consider the end value for your customers,” said Grace Davis, owner and founder of Omega. “It basically guarantees that you have specific processes that produce specific results and that you always follow your processes. We feel it is essential for a company that does business internationally such as ours.”
Omega Environmental Technologies is a worldwide distributor and custom manufacturer of mobile A/C parts and systems. A/Ction Air is a retail concept owned by Omega to meet the needs of local service shops and the public. Omega was founded in 1989 in Dallas by Graciela Davis, who was awarded female / minority entrepreneur of the year by Ernst Young LLP, USA Today and NASDAQ in 1996. Carrying a complete line of compressors, evaporators, condensers, reels of hose and hose assemblies, expansion valves and accumulators, as well as the components for rebuilding compressors, Omega is a one stop shop for all aftermarket automotive A/C products.
