Gen. Kevin Chilton, Commander, Air Force Space Command, has confirmed his participation at the Transforming Space 2007 Conference, November 5-8, in Los Angeles. He will receive a SpotBeam Award from the California Space Authority (CSA) and the California Space Education & Workforce Institute (CSEWI) who host the conference.
Gen. Chilton is scheduled to speak on November 7th prior to the panel discussion on “Educating the Workforce of the Future.” He will be inducted into the California Hall of Fame that evening during the SpotBeam Awards Dinner in recognition of the 20th anniversary of his joining NASA’s astronaut program. The evening gala highlights the conference and celebrates leading individuals and companies in exemplifying space excellence.

Chilton is a champion for space and its future,” expressed CSA Executive Director Andrea Seastrand. “The general is a man who deserves center stage attention in what he has done as an astronaut and as an Air Force officer to advance space issues on behalf of the military and the next generation of space enthusiasts.”

Gen. Chilton is responsible for the development, acquisition and operation of the Air Force's space and missile systems. He oversees a global network of satellite command and control, communications, missile warning and launch facilities, and ensures the combat readiness of America's intercontinental ballistic missile force. He leads more than 39,700 space professionals who provide combat forces and capabilities to North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Strategic Command.
