Spigit.com the first smart social collaboration platform, has introduced elections 2008 (election2008.spigit.com) and spigitU for college students (university.spigit.com). The powerful spigit engine is out to measure relative quality and viability of candidates for US presidential candidates, based on their position on the issues, electability, and successful campaign management. spigitU fuses social networking with professional development for college students, giving them a forum to showcase their talent on real student and professional issues.
Election 2008 gives an overview of presidential candidates & their positions on the issues addressed throughout their campaign effort. Community members can evaluate candidates on popularity of their views, electability, and campaign effectiveness. The contributions are captured and are used to calculate a stock price for each candidate, where the community can 'trade' virtual shares in the candidates they believe have the best chance of success. Further, community members can earn spigit, which are accumulated by posting good content, as well as build their reputation based on the quality of their contributions, in effort to give them greater influence over results and the ability to be recognized for their expertise. Spigit will award prizes at the conclusion of the 2008 presidential election to the 'wealthiest' and most reputable members.
spigitU (university.spigit.com) is designed by college students, for college students. Student startups can post their business ideas, create a real business plan, an operating team, and connect with professionals like venture capitalists to obtain funding. They receive valuable information and feedback from the community. There are competitive forums in spigitU like Campus Talk and My School; a “Student Startups” area to post business ideas and a Marketplace to find jobs & internships. spigitU is geared towards helping students succeed at school and life, while connecting with friends and professionals. spigitU awards cash prizes every semester for winners in Campus Talk, as well as for top users on the site.
