The Relevant Stage’s founder and artistic director, Ray Buffer, will be featured on Time Warner’s Local Edition in select Los Angeles and Orange County markets.
Local Edition is a 5-minute, studio-based informational program, airing at 24- and 54-minutes after the hour, most every hour on CNN Headline News in various Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino and Riverside County communities.
The primary mission of Local Edition is to provide governmental, community and educational leaders the opportunity to communicate to their constituents.
In the segment for The Relevant Stage, Buffer introduces the theatre company and its mission, talks about the importance of theatre to a community, the company’s commitment to cultivating a youth audience, and announces the lineup of productions that are part of the 2008 Season beginning in January, 2008.
The production that opens the season on January 31, 2008 is a unique, concept piece that combines excerpts from the powerful documentary film, Rats & Bullies: the Dawn Marie Wesley Story and the one-act play, Bang Bang You're Dead. Both stories are woven together magically through interpretive dance. Under the show title, Acts of Desperation, this is an event billed as one that no student, teacher or parent should miss. Both offerings highlight the secret terrorism that goes on within families and schools everyday and everywhere.
Buffer also mentions that two free matinée performances on January 31 and February 1, 2008 of Acts of Desperation will be offered to local schools on a first come-first served basis.
Within the interview are video excerpts from Bat Boy the Musical, which will be presented in October of 2008.
The Relevant Stage is a new, non-profit theatre company performing in residence at The Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, CA. The Warner Grand Theatre is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
TRS’ mission is to produce plays, musicals, operas, and mixed media productions that challenge hearts and engage minds. TRS tells stories about the world we live in.
