"Here's where you discover how to make cycling a real pleasure...by getting comfortable at long last!"
No one has to be told how uncomfortable cycling can be.
Lifelong cycling enthusiasts who say they've got used to eating up all those miles on their trusted conventional saddles, beware the physical damage you could be doing to yourselves. Chances are you're not actually 'breaking in' your saddles as you might think...the saddles are breaking you in, although you might not want to admit to it!
Leisure cyclists: that numbness feeling you're getting during and after your ride is very real. Your body is trying to tell you something and you should start to heed its warnings.
And for those of you whose bicycles are doing nothing more than collect dust in the garage because you find using them too uncomfortable: if there was an affordable solution to this discomfort wouldn't you prefer to ditch the car once and a while in favour of one of the best forms of exercise there is?
Amazing isn't it. With all the engineering sophistication that goes into today's bicycles, whether they be road going racers or off-road mountain bikes, perineal (that's the 'crotch') discomfort has yet to be seriously remedied...
"Current sports saddle design, without exception, results in the downward strain of the rider's weight being almost entirely concentrated on the perineum (crotch)...
... it's no wonder that cycling is such a pain!"
It's the continued and concentrated pressure on the perineum (crotch) from conventional bicycle saddles that produces all the pain, numbness and loss of sensitivity, and in the case of about 4% of males even sexual dysfunction, experienced by cycling enthusiasts. Arteries and nerves can become damaged and no amount of artificial padding will effectively relieve this pressure - (see HEALTH ISSUES to read more)
It's interesting to note that the principal form of the bicycle saddle hasn't fundamentally changed since the conception of the first Velocipedes. Whilst seats may vary in dimension, feature recesses down the centre, offer gel inserts, foam-cushioned upholstery or provide a coil sprung frame underneath, nothing presently available offers a genuinely more comfortable, and at the same time good looking, alternative without necessitating wholesale changes to the shape of the bicycle itself,...vis a vis 'recumbents' (and have you tried going up hill on one of those!
The human body has been provided with a fat-cushioned area specifically designed for taking the strain when sitting or riding. Isn't it strange how the gluteus maximus, or 'buttocks' as they're more widely known, seems to have been bypassed, not only in an effort not to hinder a free pedalling action, but ultimately for the sake of high design and good looks?
This situation has been going on too long. Men, women, boys and girls have had no choice other than to simply put up with the fact that sitting on a bicycle just isn't comfortable...and the RIDO saddle is now putting this right!
"It's the shape that's the key!"
The RIDO saddle's unique and patented design, featuring a very specific combination of radial, contoured and straight planes derived from countess rider studies and trials, effectively redistributes the pressure of the rider's weight away from that sensitive pelvic area and onto the (inner) gluteus maximus (buttocks), that fat-cushioned part of the human anatomy specifically created for taking the strain when sitting and riding.
We call this Pressure Shift Geometry™ and you notice it the instant you sit on the RIDO saddle no matter what your size or gender! You immediately feel how the pressure points are all completely different from what you're used to with other saddles and this is entirely due to the saddle's shape redistributing the downward pressure of your bodyweight...like magic!
"...and then there's the construction."
The RIDO saddle's construction is a unique monocoque sculpture, a panteted technological manufacturing revolution in itself, specially developed to fulfil the design's requisite combination of localised flexibility and rigidity and doing away with the need for any superfluous upholstery.
As opposed to a solid frame upholstered with foam or gel pockets where once the padding is crushed the rider is impacting on an inflexible core, the RIDO saddle comprises a specially designed skeleton molded together with an upper 'skin' which together not only offer localised flexibility in key areas across the sitting surface but a vital degree of 'give' throughout the length of the saddle.
The result is a firm, tough (no upholstery to tear), relatively lightweight (360g) saddle, no larger than today's conventional sports saddles (for dimensions, click on file below) that we can produce in all kinds of exciting colour combinations, is affordable to everyone and, most of all, provides a new and unrivalled level of improved rider comfort with a completely free pedalling action.
"...and there's still more features!"
Sliding around on a saddle also inhibits rider comfort, to the point that you can even slide right off the back if going up hill or accelerating off. The RIDO saddle, however, features a specially engineered SoftGrip TM non-slip surface. This gives enhanced rider location and, coupled with the saddle's unique shape, provides something to actually push against during those tougher gradients and brisk take-offs.
This is a one-size-fits-all saddle, further assisted by the longer than usual rails underneath that fit to your seat-post clamp. There's a lot more movement back and forth available to you for positioning yourself nearer or further away from the handlebars!
In summary, the all new RIDO cycle saddle really is fantastic news for everyone who enjoys cycling but finds this enjoyment somewhat limited by the lack of comfort...and that's more-or-less everyone! Converts have even been known to pack one with their luggage when going on holiday to fit onto hire bikes.
Since its UK launch in 2004, the RIDO saddle has revolutionised literally thousands of people's enjoyment of cycling.
Many customers have ordered and re-ordered several RIDO saddles to fit their entire collection of bikes (including the rest of the family's bikes!) and we receive congratulatory e-mails and letters from customers almost every day.
They're really quite moving, particularly in those cases where people had virtually given up on cycling because of the discomfort it caused, until they were rescued by RIDO's unique qualities.
There are serious time-triallers, road racers, triathletes, long distance cycle tourers, mountain bikers, leisure cyclists, tandem riders, commuters, men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes...RIDO suits them all, and the word continues to spread unabated.
