Bournemouth Borough Council to Upgrade Security with FVCCTV
Bournemouth Borough Council to Upgrade Security with FVCCTV

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Sheffield, S Yorks, United Kingdom, 08/17/2007 - Bournemouth Borough Council needed to upgrade its existing town centre CCTV monitoring and recording technologies as part of its urban crime prevention and detection strategy.

The Challenge
Bournemouth Borough Council needed to upgrade its existing town centre CCTV monitoring and recording technologies as part of its urban crime prevention and detection strategy. By helping the authorities make positive identifications and swifter arrests, the improved scheme would play a crucial role in town centre crime reduction as well as monitoring and minimising anti-social behaviour.

The installation would need to withstand Bournemouth’s occasionally extreme coastal climate during winter periods - the twin assaults of sand and sea in particular needed to be considered carefully.

The Council were looking for robust and reliable technologies, and experts Automated System Services (A.S.S.) Ltd - an approved FVCCTV installer – were called in to make appropriate recommendations. Working closely together in partnership, ASS and Forward Vision had already delivered Phase I of the Bournemouth scheme, and this most recent addition and enhancement to the system would further improve on the initial installation – giving both added functionality and extended coverage.

The solution
ASS Ltd carried out an in-depth investigation to determine the best solutions for the client, before recommending the additional integration of 36 MIC1-400 IR cameras, with EX1000 camera modules and 6 MIC1-400 cameras. A harsh environment, such as a seafront installation, needs to be supported with a product that will give continuous operation and utilisation throughout the year in all conditions; the Forward Vision range is well suited for that purpose and fully met the brief. The solution for Bournemouth included the addition of IR lamps and EX1000 camera modules. The system design will allow for continued expansion of the scheme and longer term planning for the future. The entire system has effectively been future-proofed and made totally scaleable, so that new technologies and additional camera positions can be added at anytime in the future, as required.

Client’s View: "Our CCTV system plays a key role in ensuring the safety of Bournemouth’s residents, businesses and visitors, which is why we are investing so much into this improvement programme. We are already seeing the benefits after the upgrades from A.S.S. and Forward Vision in Phase 1, which gives us confidence that we are putting the right resources in the right places, in order to work towards our service improvement priority of creating safer communities. We are happy to continue working with A.S.S. and Forward Vision on this important project for the Borough." CCTV Strategy Group Chairman, Barrie Clark.

FVCCTV Partner View: “We are an active partner of Forward Vision, based on the positive experiences gained from working with them for several years. A.S.S. is the incumbent contractor for seven local authority schemes from West Sussex through to Dorset and we utilise Forward Vision products wherever possible, on a daily basis. We have committed to an intensive training programme with Forward Vision to bring our engineers up to the required standard for camera repair and servicing. Providing intelligent systems integration means we look at the longer and wider needs of our clients, offering best value procurement and ultimately the most productive long-term return on investment. The Forward Vision range of products fits perfectly with this ethos and enables us to satisfy key clients like Bournemouth Borough Council.” Nic Anscombe, Business Development Manager, A.S.S. Ltd.
