Sheffield, S Yorks, United Kingdom, 08/16/2007 - Peak district hotel and restaurant, The Maynard, is hosting a Christmas ball in aid of the Cavendish Cancer Care charity on Saturday 8 December.

The evening also celebrates the charity’s 15th year of supporting those affected by cancer. It will feature an exciting auction, with opportunities to win many prizes; all proceeds will go towards Cavendish Cancer Care.
Jonny Cole of Cavendish Cancer Care, said: “We are really pleased that The Maynard has offered to help the charity to raise much needed extra funds in this way. We hold several fund-raising events throughout the year and this one will be extra special as we are also commemorating our 15th anniversary.”

The Maynard is an AA rosette restaurant and has received much acclaim for its new restaurant and menus since re-opening after a major refurbishment earlier in the year.

Cavendish Cancer Care (registered charity 1104261) is a unique charitable organisation, offering supportive care to cancer patients and their families, in a relaxed non-hospital environment. Its centre is close to the centre of Sheffield, not far from Weston Park Hospital. One in three families in the UK will be affected by cancer, and they know all too well the devastation this diagnosis brings. The many therapies available include counselling, relaxation, acupuncture, aromatherapy and hypnotherapy (and many others). Cavendish is dedicated to helping all who come to the Centre, and the first appointment will be within a week of the first contact. The service is free, and its highly trained and experienced staff understand the effects of cancer on people's lives, and are experienced at working with people at all stages of their illness, to improve the quality of their lives, and help them regain control.
Cavendish Cancer Care receives very little NHS funding and is dependent on donations from companies, organisations, and individuals and income from events - that the fundraising team, and Cavendish’s network of many volunteers and helpers organises.
