Cardiac Science’s unique focus on non-invasive cardiology products and services and its ability to leverage strong brand name recognition in its different product lines has enabled it to become a prominent player in the cardiac monitoring market.
"In this highly competitive industry, Cardiac Science successfully differentiates its products and simultaneously improves its customers’ operational efficiency through its combination of product brands Burdick, Quinton, and Powerheart," notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Zachary Bujnoch.
Burdick has a very strong brand name backed by 45 years of innovative development and marketing in the resting ECG market. Although the ECG market is very mature, Cardiac Science has experienced relative growth in this segment and has taken market share from competitors over the last several years.
Quinton has an array of strong products for both the stress testing and ECG data management markets. Cardiac Science has experienced great success with its stress testing systems due to continuing innovation and deployment of technology on this market.
Cardiac Science’s ECG data management system, Pyramis, has made a strong entrance into the market. ECG data management is a critically important area in the cardiac monitoring market and with Pyramis, hospitals and physicians get more time to focus on patients and other procedures and tests. The strong data management system has also bolstered the Company’s other products, such as stress systems, ECGs, and Holter monitors, by allowing customers to integrate all of these products through the ECG data management system into other systems in the hospital or office.
In 2006, Cardiac Science introduced an additional software solution, HeartCentrix, which enables the integration of resting ECG, stress, holter, and other ECG devices into a physician office-based electronic medical record (EMR) system. This middleware option is launched from the EMR record itself and allows physicians to review data and ultimately store it within the physician’s EMR system, enabling a more streamlined office workflow.
Globally, Cardiac Science Corp. has a sound, growing presence. It has direct and indirect sales personnel and distribution in over 160 countries, and employs more then 550 people worldwide.
