HandHeld Entertainment™ (NASDAQ: ZVUE), a global digital entertainment company, today announced that its library of user-generated content has grown more than 70 percent during the four-month period from mid-March 2007 through mid-July 2007.
Since beginning its quest in late 2006 to become one of the world’s largest providers of online videos and other forms of user-generated and premium content, HandHeld has acquired six Websites and folded them into the ZVUE Entertainment Network™.
HandHeld’s ZVUE Entertainment Network of Websites now hosts more than 850,000 user-generated videos, up from more than 500,000 user-generated (UG) videos as of March 13, 2007. In addition, these Web properties (Putfile.com™, UnOriginal.co.uk™, Holylemon.com™, YourDailyMedia.com™, FunMansion.com™, Dorks.com™ and ZVUE.com™) currently house more than 2.5 million user-submitted photos and other forms of media, including user-generated games.
HandHeld’s ZVUE Entertainment Network of Web sites currently attract between 15 million and 10 million unique visitors each month (up from 50,000 unique visitors in October 2006). Additionally, the company is on track to serve nearly one billion page views/video streams in 2007 under its ad-supported business model, further testament to HandHeld’s success in transforming itself into a leader in the online entertainment market.
“The remarkable increase in submissions by our users shows that our network of Web sites is the place for creators and submitters of great videos to show them to an enthusiastic audience,” said Jeff Oscodar, president and CEO of HandHeld Entertainment. “For the past eight months, the entire HandHeld team has been working relentlessly to create a powerful and diversified online media company. I’m very proud of the progress we’ve made in that short period of time.
“Now, after acquiring six Web sites and creating the ZVUE Entertainment Network, we have seen our library of user-generated and user-submitted content grow by more than 70 percent in the past four months. We have also built one of the largest UGC networks in the world, with more than 850,000 user-generated videos and millions of other forms of user-generated media available for online viewing or downloading. In addition, we expect to deliver close to one billion, ad-supported page views in 2007.”
According to Oscodar, HandHeld continues to see progress toward becoming one of the top digital entertainment companies in the world, through a compelling combination of:
• both ad-supported user-generated content and premium content,
• that is delivered to users in the United States and around the world,
• in English and other languages,
• and is available for consumption
o online,
o on the ZVUE family of value-priced personal media players, and
o on compatible PMPs and other types of mobile devices from other companies.
“No other company currently provides an advertising platform through a large network of Web sites that combine both UGC and commercially produced content, and can deliver that content not only on PCs, but on a wide variety of mobile devices, including its own family of products,” Oscodar said.
In addition, HandHeld made three major announcements last week:
1. The launch of Putfile France, the company’s first non-English language Website;
2. The launch of its third generation MP3 video player – the ZVUE 260 (now available for purchase online at Walmart.com for less than $100);
3. The launch of ZVUE Premium™, an online network of ad-supported premium content channels available on ZVUE.com, Dorks.com and FunMansion.com.
