Denise Houghtaling has worked at Delta Liquid Energy as an office administrator for 20 years taking care of customer service, billing, and meeting any challenge head-on. For long term customers, the service they have received when calling DLE has not changed. “I started working here when [they] only had two branches, and I am delighted with the growth and modernization DLE has undergone. They have always treated their employees exceptionally well. We have excellent benefits which have never been cut due to rising costs,” Houghtaling said.
“Houghtaling is a tremendous asset to the company. She is a real joy to work with and I appreciate the unique perspective that she often brings into a situation,” said Tim Philley, Manager of the Solvang branch. Houghtaling has been a stable and permanent employee for 20 years. However, many would be surprised to learn about her life before DLE.
Houghtaling grew up in New York City and since that time has moved from Alabama, to California, to Nevada, to Yugoslavia, and back to California again. She has worked stints as a traveling photographer for the J.C. Penny’s Pixie Pin Ups and for a private studio, owned and operated a Rock & Roll radio station, owned a casino in Yugoslavia, and has been a real estate broker. But it wasn’t until she finally met and married her husband, Robert, that she finally found a more permanent home in the Santa Ynez Valley. Houghtaling says, “It was time to settle down.”
Delta Liquid Energy is a third-generation, family-owned and operated propane dealer headquartered in Paso Robles. The company has been in business since 1936 and operates nine service facilities throughout California.
