Sydney, Australia, 2007/07/20 - New analysis from Frost & Sullivan, The Australia Enterprise Telephony Market Q1 2007 tracker, reveals that revenues in this market totaled AU$94.6 million in the first quarter of 2007, up by 16.3% from the previous quarter.
After a slight decline in 2006, the enterprise telephony market looks to be gaining momentum in 2007.
New analysis from global growth consulting company, Frost & Sullivan (enterprisecommunications.frost.com), The Australia Enterprise Telephony Market Q1 2007 tracker, reveals that revenues in this market totalled AU$94.6 million in the first quarter of 2007, up by 16.3 per cent from the previous quarter.
A highly competitive market, the Australia enterprise telephony market nevertheless grew in the last quarter and even outperformed the corresponding quarter in 2006 by 13.0 per cent.
According to industry principal at Frost & Sullivan, Mr. Moaiyad Hoosenally, "over 16 vendors compete in this space, with the top 3 vendors commanding almost half of the market in Q1 2007".
For the first quarter of this year, Cisco led the market with 17.1 percent, followed by NEC with 14.1 per cent and in third place was Nortel.
Moving forward, Frost & Sullivan expects SMBs to fuel the growth of the Australia enterprise telephony market, as SMBs along with large enterprises increase their adoption of IP Phones.
"Traditionally, SMBs sought very basic telephony solutions with voice mail as the key applications. However, these days, SMBs are increasingly seeking various IP applications which to increase productivity and enhance business efficiency", added Mr. Hoosenally.
"The IP phone has become a cornerstone piece of the ongoing shift towards convergence in the enterprise space. One of the biggest drivers for IP phones is the ability to programme telephone systems to make them better business tools."
One of the biggest drivers for adopting IP telephony is the ability to integrate voice with other business applications.
Capabilities such as dial by name, access to corporate directories, desktop management, enterprise mobility and web-based information, among others, can greatly improve employee effectiveness. The requirement for increased productivity is expected to have a very positive impact on the growth of the IP phone market and the enterprise telephony market in Australia.
