iQ Academy has announced the launch of a new online high school in Arizona. Students are currently being accepted for enrollment, and the school will open its virtual doors for the 2007-08 school year this August.
To mark the school’s opening, the director of iQ Academy, Lisa McClure, took to the skies as part of a unique skydiving event where she jumped from a plane with professional divers performing stunts with laptops, illustrating the freedom and flexibility a virtual education allows to complete schoolwork anytime, anywhere.
“iQ Academy is all about providing Arizona students the opportunity to excel at their own pace, studying when and where they want so they can pursue their passion – whether sports, travel, performances, jobs or other activities,” said McClure. “The skydive event provides an example of the type of freedom and flexibility an online education can provide.”
As part of the launch activities, iQ Academy will offer “The Sky’s the Limit with Virtual Education” YouTube video competition for Arizona students. The competition will invite Arizona students to create a video illustrating how they would use the freedom provided by virtual education to pursue their dreams. The winner will receive an Apple iPhone.
Providing New Educational Options for Arizona Students

The award-winning curriculum and certified teachers provide a high-quality education, tuition free. The program is a part of Pinnacle Education, in partnership with KC Distance Learning, Inc.
Any student can take advantage of this new virtual education option, including previously home schooled students, athletes, performers and others with busy travel or work schedules, students with special needs and students seeking Advanced Placement, honors or other courses unavailable in their local school district.
All iQ Academy Arizona students are equipped with a state-of-the-art laptop, a photo-quality printer and first-class state certified curriculum. Students receive individualized attention from experienced, licensed teachers and participate in dynamic teacher-moderated student discussions – all conducted virtually, over the Internet. The latest technology facilitates student-teacher interaction through email, online discussions, and real-time online tutoring sessions. Technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing maximum flexibility for Arizona students.
iQ Academy Arizona will provide a complete educational experience, complementing the online, interactive learning environment with service learning, educational field trips and social outings.
Local Open Houses
Open houses are taking place across Arizona throughout the summer. Teachers from iQ Academy will host the open houses, allowing prospective students to ask questions about the virtual school. Those interested will be able to see a demonstration of how the school operates and what a virtual classroom looks like.
