DanSteel Denmark Chooses AIS SteelPlanner MES-System for Supply Chain Optimization

Brussels, Belgium, 07/03/2007 - The AIS SteelPlanner MES-Solution has been selected by Dan Steel (Denmark) to optimize its supply chain management at their Plate Mill.
According to DanSteel A/S, the decision is based on the firmly substantiated impression that the AIS SteelPlanner MES-Solution represents the most suitable system in the context of the Plate Mill's production specifics.
The AIS SteelPlanner MES-Solution to be implemented at DanSteel will cover the entire business process starting from order entry to the dispatch of finished products.
On the planning side, it will cover production and quality planning as well as optimized production scheduling. Of particular importance will be the plate nesting and assignment optimization with PIANO as well as the reheating furnace and plate mill scheduling optimization by BetaPlanner, the well proven AIS module for rolling mill scheduling optimization. The acquired actual production data will be used for production, quality control, and planned versus actual comparison enabling product disposition like re-work or re-assignment. Material and transport management of intermediate and finished products will also be implemented as part of the AIS SteelPlanner MES-solution.
With the implementation of the MES-System, DanSteel will have a state of the art supply chain management solution that will provide fast and reliable information of order status, available capacities, and accurate information about stock.
The implementation project has started in April 2007 and is due to be finalized second half of 2008.
