Securent, Inc., the award-winning leader in the Entitlement Management market, today announced that Co-Founder and CTO Sekhar Sarukkai has been selected to present in multiple stand-alone sessions at the annual SOA World Conference and Expo 2007, to be held June 25 – 27 in New York.
The 11th International SOA World Conference & Expo 2007, co-located with the Second Annual Enterprise Open Source Conference, will take place at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. SOA World brings together the best minds in the business for a three-day conference that offers comprehensive coverage of SOA and what it means to enterprise IT today.
“Sekhar Sarukkai is a pioneer in the industry, and we are pleased to have someone of his stature in the industry on the agenda for our upcoming SOA World conference,” said Roger Strukhoff, the SOA World Conference Chair. “Sekhar is extremely well regarded, and we look forward to hearing his insights about securing SOAs, and having our attendees benefit from the wealth of his expertise. Entitlement Management is a growing trend to providing enterprises with consistent and flexible policy management and enforcement in an SOA.”
Recently named one of InfoWorld’s Top 25 CTOs of 2007, Sarukkai leads the technology strategy and development for Securent. Prior to founding Securent, Sarukkai was the co-founder and CTO of Confluent Software, a leading web-services security and management company. When Confluent was acquired by Oblix (now part of Oracle), Sarukkai served as Oblix’s technical evangelist and helped drive Oblix’s move to a common SOA-enabled security architecture for all Oblix identity management and access products. Prior to Confluent/Oblix, Sarukkai was the chief architect for Hewlett-Packard’s E-speak program, where he led efforts covering web-service programming models, routing, registries, and management. Prior to his E-speak work, Sarukkai worked at HP labs where he was granted many patents in the areas of parallel computing, dynamic load balancing, web caching, and one of the earliest patents on browsing the web using speech. Sarukkai holds a Master’s degree and PhD in Computer Science from Indiana University.
Securent EMS enables organizations to secure sensitive applications and data with ease and precision. For the first time, organizations can benefit from a proven XACML standard-based solution to create, enforce, review, and audit fine-grained access policies across heterogeneous application and IT environments distributed throughout the enterprise, all with centralized management and visibility. Securent provides a more scalable and cost-effective alternative to custom coding of fine-grained access controls into applications. Loosely coupling entitlements with application services, Securent EMS is also a key infrastructure service in an effective SOA deployment. The results, as seen in Fortune 1000 deployments, include improved security and compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Basel Capital Accord (Basel II), and the National Association of Securities Dealers Rule 2711 (NASD 2711).
