United States to Assist China in Developing Coalbed Methane Resources

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Sarasota, FL, United States, 06/19/2007 - New book explains China’s action plan to accelerate coalbed methane gas development to help develop its energy needs and offers investors a bounty of opportunities.

At the conclusion of the US - China Strategic Economic Dialogue in late May, both countries agreed to develop up to 15 large-scale coal mine methane capture and utilization projects in China over the next five years.

According to StockInterview.com editor, Julie Ickes, “China started to tap coalbed methane in the 1990s and established China United Coalbed Methane to grant exclusive rights to Sino-foreign joint projects for capturing and developing coalbed methane gas.”

StockInterview.com has followed developments of China’s coalbed methane (CBM) projects since late 2005. Ickes said, “Developments over the past twelve months in China demonstrate the country’s political leadership has positioned methane gas capture and utilization at the top of high-priority lists.”

Both China’s National Development and Reform Commission and China’s National Climate Change Coordination Committee named methane gas in top priority categories. According to China Daily, the country hopes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 200 metric tons of CO2 by upgrading its CBM industry.

StockInterview.com’s latest publication, “Investing in China’s Energy Crisis,” foresaw the recent developments in China and identified several investment opportunities in the development of the country’s coalbed methane sector. By developing all possible natural gas supply sources, including CBM gas, China hopes to avert electricity shortages this summer and during next summer’s Olympics games in Beijing.

Senior editor James Finch said of the new publication, “With this summer’s anticipated rise in natural gas prices and the accelerated CBM developments in China, we are pleased to release this new CD-ROM just before investors rush into the sector.”
