Industrial Vision Corporation, the only occupational lens safety manufacturer in the Midwest offering full service eye safety programs and eye protection products, announces a new program featuring prescription lenses that attach inside SCBA and full-face respirator masks.
The Spectacle Kit Insert Program (SKIP) is designed for those who wear prescription glasses and need the same Rx lens for their respirator mask. Chemical workers, fire fighters, electric-utility employees, hazardous materials handlers and others whose work is done in oxygen deficient space or in a potentially toxic environment typically wear the masks.
“Industrial Vision initiated this program because we needed to educate these workers about the differences between prescription glasses and prescription respirator inserts. It can be crucial to on the job safety,” said John Stewart, President.
“Most workers in toxic space usually wear a respirator and they do know about prescription inserts, their employer usually provides them. However they are directed by their employers or manufacturer of the respirator to simply take the spectacle kit to their doctor or retail eye care center to have lenses made. This method, in most cases, will not provide the employee precision vision. Retailers are simply not familiar with the additional measurements needed due to the physical differences of the masks and inserts from regular prescription glasses.”
Stewart added without these additional measurements the wearer simply will not have the same visual acuity as with their regular glasses using the exact same prescription. Firms such as Industrial Vision, who are experienced in SCBA and full face respirator masks, have all the additional measurements to provide the wearer with the best vision possible.
Industrial Vision markets affordable lenses, all at about the same price. Stewart said Industrial Vision sells occupation prescription lenses at about 70% off retail cost. IVC makes the lenses available online at the company’s website. A full spectacle kit insert catalog is on the site. Customers can fax in their prescription and have an insert made to their exact specifications. They can also contact IVC’s SKIP service hotline at 800-264-1941 and speak to an eye care specialist who will guide them through the process.
