An innovative move is taking place in the international organics industry - a move to embrace a more ethical, more flexible and more effective marketing style. Across the globe, a large number of eco-entrepreneurs are moving away from the "pushy" marketing methods characteristic of traditional multi-level marketing companies, choosing instead to focus on education and showing individuals what they can do to live greener, healthier lives.
The Australian based ONE Group (Organic & Natural Enterprise Group), creators of the world's first range of certified organic personal and health care products, are pioneering this shift in marketing strategies. Helping the global community to a “greener" way out of the rat race, ONE Group have developed a business system based on network marketing, but with an unexpected twist.
"It's not about joining up your friends and family anymore," says Tennille Chambers, a ONE Group Business Consultant and Independent Representative. "We have replaced the old pushy MLM style of selling with respect and ethics.”
So what is this unexpected twist? "We call it a 'multi-channel' marketing system" states Tennille. "Basically, we utilise many different avenues to market our products. Avenues such as the Internet, party plan, markets and expos, fundraising and advertising are popular among "reps". It is this unprecedented flexibility which allows us to be as creative as we like. We are not restricted."
Tennille started her ONE Group international business almost 18 months ago and uses print advertising to promote her website loveorganics.org "To me, ONE Group's opportunity seemed too good to be true, but believe me, it’s very real. Everything is in place - the certified organic products, the business system, the training and resources. All I have to do is market my passion. And along with educating the world, we are teaching our customers to say ‘no’ to toxic synthetic chemicals by using their most powerful voice - their dollar."
In a self-regulated industry such as the cosmetic industry, manufacturers are allowed to use almost any ingredient they wish. According to EWG (Environmental Working Group) one third of all personal care products contain one or more ingredients classified as human carcinogens. Even more alarming is that the average adult uses 9 personal care products daily, exposing them to 126 chemicals every day. EWG’s statistics also show that over the last 30 years only 9 out of 10,500 ingredients used in personal care products have been banned or restricted and 89% of those 10,500 ingredients have not been tested for safety. With findings such as this, it’s no wonder companies such as ONE Group are raising the bar in safe ingredient standards.
The organics industry has boasted a compounding growth of 23% per annum for the last 8 years, and if current growth rates are maintained, we will see this trend play a significant role in world consciousness. With signs of global warming entering into our every day lives, people are looking for something that they can do. "We have to start somewhere" says Tennille. "Whether it's recycling your grey water, reducing the toxic synthetic chemicals in your life, or designing your own organics business, we can all play a part in saving our environment.
Is the catch phrase “Be your own boss” a long forgotten pipe dream? Not according to Tennille and her team of ONE Group independent representatives. “We are attracting anyone from savvy, hip, eco-conscious entrepreneurs to smart mums & dads who want to work from home. Men and women alike are becoming very successful ONE Group business leaders from home”
"This business is for anyone with a strong desire to create a sustainable, well balanced life. And the added bonus - we're creating a sustainable, more balanced world at the same time!
