Sci-Fi to Shakespeare this May on Radio Drama Revival!

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Alfred, ME, United States, 05/01/2007 - This new podcast, driven by writer/producer/personality Frederick Greenhalgh, has a mission to "showcase the diversity and vitality of modern audio theater.".

Horror, drama and comedy are just a few of the genres featured on Radio Drama Revival! the last four months. This new podcast, driven by writer/producer/personality Frederick Greenhalgh, has a mission to "showcase the diversity and vitality of modern audio theater." And this May, with science-fiction, Shakespeare, and fantasy on the calendar, the show looks to do just that.

"I've been amazed at how well received the show is," says Greenhalgh. "At the beginning I had no idea anyone would tune in, and now I get emails and new material all the time. I think it points to the latent interest in radio drama, but precious few places to hear it."

Greenhalgh's enthusiasm for the art is prevalent in every episode, which alternate between audio drama and discussion with the drama's producers. "Obviously I love the stories," Greenhalgh says, "But I also like to learn a little bit about the people who are making them. In the 21st century, who are these people who still believe in radio drama? It's sometimes surprising, and always awesome."

Especially exciting for Mr. Greenhalgh is the appearance of the science-fiction tale "Buried in Falling Sand," by Dreamseed of Fort Wayne, Indiana. "When I first heard this story, two things went through my mind. One -- wow, this is the kind of story I've wanted to hear all along. And two -- I've got to have this on the show!" After contacting Dreamseed's Alexander Davis, his wish was granted, and he will feature the dystopian tale on May 3 and an interview with the author/producer on the 10th.

Also on the line-up is a contemporary adaptation of "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" (May 17 and 24) by Quicksilver Radio Theater and an original fantasy story "Fall of the Hero" (May 31) by Greenhalgh's own FinalRune Productions. The show airs live Thursday afternoons, 1-1:30PM EST on WMPG 90.9/104.1 FM, streamed online and is podcast the Friday thereafter.
