For the first time, the Inttranet™, the multilingual portal for professional interpreters and translators, has been included in the scope of the ISO 9001:2000 recertification obtained by HTT, the company that headed the multinational team that designed and developed the portal.
The Inttranet™ project was launched in 2000 to provide a multilingual gateway for customers worldwide to the services of professional interpreters and translators, with design input by freelance interpreters and translators, associations and institutions in 26 countries.
The portal provides a complete range of professional services, all of which are compatible with ISO 9001 quality management criteria. Only professional interpreters and translators are admitted to the network, and must have a minimum of 3 years' professional activity and the requisite academic and/or professional references.
Once admitted, members have one of the most complete CVs in the world, which can not only be updated at any time by their owner on-line, but is also automatically displayed in any of the 33 language versions in which the portal is available. Customers in virtually every country around the world can therefore locate and contact the professional interpreter and translator they need, after checking their credentials in their own language.
Basic services are free of charge for customers and for network members alike. No commission fee of any kind is charged on work sub-contracted through the portal, which publishes up to 300 job offers each day. Calls for tender worth more than EUR 350 million were published on the portal in 2006 alone.
Basic Inttranet™ services for use by members include Inttranews™, the leading news service for the language industry (available in English and French), and Terminall™ a multilingual terminology database compatible with the ISO 12616 terminographic standard.
Advanced services including a "Customer Control" system for checking the solvability of potential customers, an ISO 9001-compatible Customer Satisfaction reporting system, a multilingual web design and hosting system for each member, and 100-Mb FTP file transfer.
Inttranet™ was admitted to the UNESCO Observatory for the Information Society in 2006.
