FTI Consulting, Inc. today announced the launch of its Specialist Director Support Services offering in the Cayman Islands, following approval of a Companies Management Licence by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA”) and the registration of individual directors under the local Directors Registration and Licensing Law.
FTI Consulting has one of the most active restructuring teams for distressed funds in the Cayman Islands and will complement its existing services to alternative investment funds with this offering. As one of a select few restructuring firms licensed and regulated by CIMA for the purpose of providing independent directors, FTI Consulting senior leaders in the Cayman Islands can assist directors, investment managers, lenders, investors and their advisors by accepting board appointments to help navigate through challenging situations or promote and implement constructive change.
“Boards and managers are often faced with unwelcome high-pressure situations such as complex restructurings, contentious corporate disputes and challenging regulatory investigations,” said David Griffin, Leader of the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment in the Cayman Islands at FTI Consulting. “Our directors have the highest levels of experience and are able to provide strong leadership and hands-on support during these difficult situations. We can effectively manage competing stakeholder interests, identify pragmatic solutions and deliver outcomes that help advance our clients’ strategic goals.”
With a core team of professionals based in the Cayman Islands and market-leading restructuring, forensic accounting, valuation and investigation experts located across 28 countries worldwide, FTI Consulting is uniquely well-positioned to assist clients with interests in international fund structures by providing bespoke solutions that take into consideration local issues, customs, time zones, languages and business practices.
“We understand the commercial pressures at play in a restructuring and utilize our deep expertise to balance those interests with our fiduciary duties to get the best possible result in a distressed or disruptive situation,” added Andrew Morrison, a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment at FTI Consulting. “Having taken on a number of executive roles, we deal with the most complex fund engagements, regardless of scale, investment strategy, geography or nature of the restructuring or dispute, and collaborate successfully with clients facing a broad range of critical issues.”
Mr. Griffin and Mr. Morrison lead FTI Consulting’s team in the Cayman Islands and have more than 35 years of combined experience in restructuring, corporate investigations and dispute consulting, with a particular focus on offshore alternative investment structures.
