With so many directories available online, TheVendorWire.com's approach had to be completely different rather than simply listing a vendor by category of service.
TheVendorWire.com developed a different system to list vendors: It lets the bride not only search for vendors by their location including state, city and zip code, but also view a lot more specific information about the services they provide. The listings allow the vendor to post the general description of their services, contact information including phone number, fax, and mobile, high resolution picture gallery (preferred by photographers), specific products (which features pictures as well as pricing information for vendors providing multiple services). These listings also allow the bride to view the vendor’s location using online maps, export the listing as a PDF file, visit the vendor’s website with the click of a button, review the vendor, and refer the listing to a friend/family member.
With only a few weeks of being "live" the website (thevendorwire.com) has acquired over 240 members nationwide and is currently receiving over 1000 visitors per day. The website is currently developing several services for the ‘bride-to-be’ including a personalized contact list which will allow the bride to manage her RSVPs, a vendor list management system which allows the bride to manage her preferred list of vendors, a wedding planner check list, and a personalized budget calculator which allows the bride to have a good idea of what will be spent and what for. Finally, wedding planning can be something as simple as clicking a button.
