Debt Settlement Industry Groups Unite to Provide Consumers’ Choices in Resolving Debt
NewswireToday - /newswire/ -
Frisco, TX, United States, 04/04/2007 - Two national trade associations, United States Organization for Bankruptcy Alternatives (USOBA) and The Association of Debt Settlement Companies (TASC), have jointly submitted proposed amendments to NCCUSL.
(USOBA) and The Association of Debt Settlement Companies (TASC), have jointly submitted proposed amendments to The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) regarding the Uniformed Debt Management Services Act (UDMSA) being considered in Colorado.
The Board of Directors of USOBA and TASC joined forces in this unprecedented effort. The collaborative end product is a set of comprehensive amendments that will fairly address the concerns of the debt settlement industry while maintaining the level of consumer protection sought by the parties.
With the introduction of the UDMSA in different states, USOBA and TASC are hopeful that these amendments will be adopted and implemented. It is significant to note that all the parties are involved in an ongoing dialogue that may affect the debt settlement industry. USOBA Executive Director, Jenna Keehnen, reports "USOBA is proud to participate on this important issue and we are committed to a course that will not only protect the consumers of Colorado, but also build a foundation that can have a positive influence and impact nationwide."
Tami Brown, President of TASC (tascsite.org), also expresses these sentiments. Ms. Brown states "TASC is committed to serving consumers while promoting fair legislation for the debt settlement industry. We are honored to be part of this process and look forward to carrying this momentum nationwide."
